Zanko`s Army of the Lizard King

Here now the desired Ral Partha Chaos Beasts together with the handler. To get to 8 models, I simply added an “empty base”.

Looking good! I like the bright colours. The hounds look pretty big. Probably a good size to pull along a cd chariot.

I love the contrast of the energy of the giant and the stillness of his master. Your diorama bases are always excellent.

Lovely warhounds and crystal giant! Really nice take on the theme. Very much agreed on the diorama bases.

Now that @Admiral has opened the Image Gallery, I have discovered that I have not yet photographed various models. If I have time at the weekend, I’ll probably have to have a photo session to be really up to date again. :cd1980:

Here is my AC entry:

Even though I am not really satisfied … I’ll see if I exchange the CDs for other models … somehow I am still not really d`accord with the ensemble!

Where are the cds from? Thats a great man mangler/stone thrower and a really good entry, a mini diorama all on its own. All the arses and occasional tit caught everyones eye i guess …haha

Please do not be dissuaded, master Zanko! I for one am impressed with your entry. A beautiful man mangler (a personal favourite along with the Hellcannon and Dwarf ballista among many good warmachine models) and a crew and scenery composition that makes for a good diorama. The scene is evocative, and the tree is well chosen and positioned to play up the atmosphere.

Perhaps some crew models could have looked like they were working with the warmachine, but overall it’s an impression of warriors milling about on a living, breathing battlefield. Seeing your entries is a constant little delight in handling the contests. I can never predict what models you will pick, and the cohesive colour scheme makes for a fine overall army impression. Winning medals has a bit of game of chance to it: My own were usually surprises, since there were more worthy entries around and I didn’t expect to place at all.

Please know you have fans. And remember you have won gold before with your brutal machine gun team, and may well do so again. Perseverence is a true Dwarven virtue. :cd1980:

Great Entry. Although I really felt that the tree was crying out for something. Namely a Dwarf Slayer crucified to as in “Conan on the Tree of Woe”

It immediately screamed @Zanko to me, that means something too! I would love this model in my collection! Very well made scene, as most of yours are!

Thank you for the positive feedback!

@Zoddtheimmortal: The CDs are from Macrocosm Miniatures, they are the Vikings. Nice little dudes, unfortunately I didn’t have the time or the know-how to convert them!

@Admiral: I will not be discouraged! Winning a gold and a bronze medal was more than I ever thought I could do (unless I would be the only contributor ). Besides, crafting and painting is far too much fun to be influenced “only” by winning or not winning a medal. I just knew that there would be too many brilliant entries in this contest to keep up, I’m just a realist … is also a dwarven virtue!

@Abecedar: True, an ordinary dwarf hit on the tree would have been cool, I hadn’t thought about it at all. If I find a suitable model, it will probably find its way onto the tree!

@MichaelX: I’m afraid that my style is unmistakable by now, but I’m probably too old to be able to really change that … and to want to. Resistance to new influences is also a dwarven virtue.

I meant it as a positive thing for sure. Sticking to a theme is perfect in my book!

I am looking for a riding chaos dwarf sorcerer, do any of you have any idea where I can get an appropriate model?

Despite scouring the net and eBay I haven’t found anything suitable yet! I need your swarm knowledge!

There is a mounted dwarf wizard on a pony (REAPER)but he doesnt look chaos dwarf at all.
VARAN The bear (westwind) Is a cool model. Cutting off the top half of his head , putting a john pickford helmet on and change his weapon to a staff?

We probably need to get together and fund kevin adams, john pickford or sjoerdo to sculpt one and cast it…

Even though I don’t really feel like painting at the moment, I have not been idle. I’m busy collecting new models, most recently 2 old boxes of “Chronopia Dwarfs”, which make really nice chaos dwarfs. Let’s see if there will be a new unit or a diorama. I’m still thinking about that, but at the moment the diorama is in the lead.
There will also be a “Monstrous Infantry” model and possibly another wizard on a Lammasu. However, I am still missing individual parts or the right models.
Furthermore, I have been racking my brains for a while on how to build a Chaos Dwarf Landship (similar to the one from Forge World, but suitable for CDs). I’m still in the very early planning phase.
So it won’t be boring, even if I don’t post that much!

I look forward to seeing what you do for the landship! The Forge World Empire Landship is really quite a small model to be called a ship (I know, sized for the limitations of tabletop gaming and all…). I’ve always wanted to see someone convert an actual full size ship… to a landship… perhaps for the “Build a Chaos Dwarf Landship Contest” which must surely be on the horizon. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:
