* Hobgoblin bolt thrower 30 pts
* Hobgoblin bolt thrower 30 pts
* Hobgoblin bolt thrower 30 pts
* Hobgoblin bolt thrower 30 pts (do I smell cheese? :D)
Total: 499 pts
Battle report:
For the first match In the campaign I challanged a vampire counts player, who has played warhammer for about as long time as me.
He had an army heavy themed on skeletons.
two blocks with 15 and 16 skeleton, one of them led by a vampire, and a unit of 5 dire wolves.
He had also bought a special ability so he could raise skeletons in higher quantities than normal.
Having never played against VC before, this was indeed an interesting match. after deployment, he got the first turn, and was slowly walking towards me.
Being a former WoC player, my first tactic was to be offensive.
But when I remebered that I actually played with dwarfs, I thought a defensive style of play would be much more efficiant, especially in this game.
I took advantage of the VC slow movement rate, and tried to “soften them up” with my 4 bolt throwers :h .
Too bad he still raised them back the next turn, and even if I managed to dispell some of his spells, he still got more skeletons in the 4th turn then when we started!
When It got to my 4th turn it was time for some action. my Bull centaurs was the only unit within charge range, and if I didn’t charge, he would charge the next turn.
I declared a charge on the unit containing the vampire, and moved my other unit with hand weapon CDs (containing my hero) on the left flank of the BCs, so that I could prevent them being flanked by 20 more skeletons :o
My two Bolt throwers on the right flank was already pretty much wiped out from his 4th turn, being charged by angry dire wolves.
The other two had no more line of sight.
By getting to charge with my BCs, I could strike first with my great weapons! Muahaha!
I dedicated 4 attacks (from 2 bulls) on the vampire, and wounded 3, SMACK! the vampire was no more
You should have seen the face on my opponent!
I managed to kill some skeletons aswell, and won the combat.
Never having played against VC before, I thought they should break and flee, but no. They just stood still, and lost another skeleton.
Another thing I didn’t know about VC, (and wich was a good thing) Is that they crumbles when their leader dies! yay!
This redused his direwolves to 1, and the skeleton unit in combat with my BC to about 10, and the other to about 15.
on his turn 5, he charged my hero and it’s companions with his 15 skeletons. we both fought well, and I ended up loosing the combat with 1 piont. being outnumbered by a fearcausing unit, I could only succed on a double roll of 1 :~. Ofcourse, they fled, my two hobgoblin BT fled, and ofcourse, he cought up with me, dammit…
Any way, on the following turns he continued to crumble, and I got my revenge on the 15 (now 12) skeletons that killed my hero, by charging them with my CDs with great weapons.
I ended up by getting about 160 victory points more, which gave me a solid victory, Hurray for me! :cheers
It was a very fun match to paly, and I cant wait 'til next, when my CDs will face a new exciting challange.
All hail to the mighty HASHUT!
