[Archive] al-hashut's All Plastic IG Army

Hashut’s Blessing:

Always welcome. You make beautiful things for me to appreciate  Maybe change his gun and add an Imp. Eagle somewhere.

al-hashut:

Well, for Hashut Blessing’s appreciation (and hopefully a few other members) here’s the finished Psyker. I decided to not change him as I like the original sculpt so much. Bit of a rush job but hey, if he performs well on the field he may get some extra paint treatment:

And in the light of the new edition and their increased importance, i decided to start making 3 themed objective markers, so here’s the first of them. It’s the entrance to an underground bunker/air raid shelter:

Does it need any extra touches? Perhaps a roman numeral or a small emblem, what do you think?

al-hashut:

Second one done: Battleplans.

al-hashut:

Here’s the third:

jester:

nice stuff

This message was automatically appended because it was too short.

Hashut’s Blessing:

Yay, I get the blog shown to me specifically, he he he. Looks good  As for the hatch, it’d be cool if you made a few bunkers (for gameplay) with other hatches in (like in Dawn of War) and you could always have special rules for them too… I like the battle plans, weapons cache and hatchway…

Next job, make a nice big bunker in which to use as a HQ/scenic army base/case… Would work really well with the weapons cache and battle plans inside and the hatch on top (near an anti-air turret?)…

al-hashut:

Cheers Jester and HB. The scenery may have to be put on hold as i’ve been procrastinating and i really should start revision for my retake on wednesday :S and the move to France but good ideas all the same (perhaps even a separate space hulk like board to represent the tunnels/sewers)

Anywho, here’s the second native psyker…he seems like the junior one so if i roll no powers, he’ll be the one to go without.

Hashut’s Blessing:

Looking good. Fits in well with the other one. I can understand that about the scenery, but at least you now have some ideas, eh? Good luck with the retake, I’m sure you’ll do better!

al-hashut:

Well, it’s been a while but i haven’t been totally idle. Whilst in France i managed to grab some ebay deals so when i came back from uni for a few days, i had a lot of restauration to do. Amongst the wins was a hellhound/chimera/LR/Valhallen platoon package/Chenkov. The Valhallens i’m going to strip and then sell back on ebay to claw back some cash but i will get to keep the classic Commissioner with Power fist (one of my favourite figures) and the old missionary with a book on a stick that came with it.

The vehicles were in a bit of a state but after much cursing and cutting, i managed to prise the chimera apart and start with the rebuild. First time i’ve dealt with plasticard and rivets so i’m fairly pleased with the results.

Second lot i got was 3 mangled figures for about a pound. These were a Col. Schafer missing arms and torso detail (future penal squad sgt.), the doc from Gaunts ghosts missing arms and leg (but the head is a unique sculpt for a future sgt.) and Gaunt himself with right arm and bolt pistol missing.

First up the skinny man himself. Added arm from empire free company and a bolt pistol with drum feed.

edit - wrong picture corrected

Kera foehunter:

great stuff al - hashut !! you did great on your little yellow guys. Ilove how high the kilt is lol old man style…

al-hashut:

Thanks Kera. I’d never noticed how high he wore them

Righto, well it’s been a long time. Another golden hat missed, another great edition of the Word of Hashut out of the presses but finally I’m back in the UK for good after a gruelling second term in France (4months of a student strike) so time for an update. The pictures aren’t up to their regular standard due to me still living out of boxes and not having as good a lighting set-up like before.

First up, rescuing an old ebay Leman Russ. Mainly scraping off excess glue, replacing the old HB for the new ones and giving it an interchangable battle cannon or TW Autocannon…should i ever want an exterminator:

Another cheap ebay rescue, this time col. Schaefer himself, missing arms and some torso detail, but otherwise in good nick. Quick rummage through my bits box and the 22nd had their very own Bombardier, the Master of Ordinance.

Since my last update, the IG codex got a bit of an overhaul. Whilst i was for the most part pleasantly surprised by the changes, it has forced me to do a number of niggling little fixes to comply with the new set-up. The Major’s stormbolter now just counts as a bolter, the medics and standard bearer will have to rely on las weaponry from now on and one of my NCO’s has been stripped of his bolter too. However, in keeping with my first Sgt. all three of them will now carry service revolvers (bolt pistols).

Rather on the big side but they don’t call them hand cannons for nothing. "Feel lucky punk…well, do ya?"

I’ve also started work on my veteran squad, all of which come from 1st Company, a special order of marksmen known as the Grey Berets. Perks of the job include a dashing hat, a rather useful gasmask and the mk3 Pianosan pattern autogun. Consider this a teaser, 3 have been made/sculpted so far, hopefully the details will show up better when painted/my lighting set-up has been…well, set up:

The previous prototype stormtrooper head has been put to good use on one of my flamers, this army having a slight British feel it seems only right that health and safety demand a facemask when handling promethium weaponry. More facemasks will be made for the other flamers to maintain consistency.

Mortars! I’d always wanted a squad of them and now thats they’re even more of a points bargain how could i say no. I wanted mine to be dug in behind some makeshift earthworks and barricades. Great fun to model:

And finally, just because i had them all out whilst i was taking some the pictures, here’s an army shot of the 22nd’s Bravo Company so far

Kera foehunter:

looks great so far!! you need more room to work throw

Hashut’s Blessing:

Looking excellent, me lad! I love the theming work and how you’re pulling it off. Health and safety would mean you have to use a water slicked, rubber 60 ft pole to use the flamer, but the facemask is a great nod in the right direction

It’s all coming together nicely and I can;t wait for more stuff to be painted and the lighting to be corrected. It’s an gasmtastic army!

al-hashut:

LOL. It seems HB you’ve taken the correct course in flamer use. Despite a lack of water cooled pole, at least the flamer can be rest assured that should something go wrong, then he will have his limbs burnt off, but that chargriled torso will still have a good looking face…very useful with the ladies should the regiment ever be awarded colonisation duties

Bit more work on (and hopefully better pics of) the veteran squad from 1st Company. I’ve had this idea for a while now and seeing as 1st Company get all the best kit, i thought it apt for them to get it. Introducing the mk2 M.W.P. (Mobile Weapons Platform) Lascannon.

And the rest of the Grey Berets (many awaiting heads and missing one private who will be carrying a plasma gun). I wanted them to look more organised and drilled than the regular grunts, so a FRFSRF set up seemed like a nice choice.

Any comments will be useful. Do you think the lascannon and plasmagun will compliment eachother in game terms?

Kera foehunter:

i love the lazer canon and the guy

al-hashut:

Cheers Kera.

Pics of the now painted Chimera:

And PIP pics of half of the Veterans:

Hashut’s Blessing:

Looking good! What’s next to be built and painted after these guys are finished?

al-hashut:

sorry for the late reply. Final year of uni, general DIY around the apartment, modelling, car repairs (can you believe some little skally stole one, repeat, a single alloy wheel off my car shrug) have all limited my forum time somewhat.

Anywhooo, here’s a bit of an update, along with the regular promise that some CD stuff will be done when the guard is done.

Completed pics of the vets.

The painted Command Squad.

Then i got cracking on my suicide squad, the demolition vets with shotguns.

This guy’s my favourite so far, very cut up, but still going.

al-hashut:

next up a special character, Ex-P.F.C Wintergreen (Sly Marbo)

An ex-P.F.C. because of his constant urge to go AWOL, Wintergreen has been demoted so many times that he entertains hopes of becoming an ex-general. Due to his position in charge of the 22nd’s regimental mail distribution, he has a aquired a knack for forging documents, destroying mail and all kinds of espionage.

Wintergreen, a.k.a Washington Irving, a.k.a Irving Washington, is known to habitually go missing. Often he’s spotted sneaking off from regimental HQ, occasionally (and accidentally) through the enemy lines, laying diversionary explosives to make good his escape. Days later, military police will finally have brought him back to base.

al-hashut:

Finished off some flamers, now all of them have regulation prometheum resistant kevlar facemasks. Safety first.

And a set of PIP pics of the first of three mortar crews

Cheers
