Yodrin:

Impressive, and I love your bases!!!

Admiral:

Really nice! Your army has a distinctive style. Like Yodrin I also like the bases a lot.

Helblindi:

Nice, I like the colors.

Red Skullz:

Thanks everyone! I hope now that you can see everything together you understand the choices I’ve made a bit better  :)

Since I’m on fire, here’s another update on the iron daemon as well.

Start on the furnace and coal bucket.

The crew. Shoveling coal is slave work. The two greenskins got masks to protect them from the fumes. I made a shovel on the red one with some coal in it. The engineer is pimping a very blingy hat. As the engine itself has a bull motif on the front I transferred that to the engineer as well. Goggles is a popular touch here on the forums and I wanted the same myself. The whip is from a ork runtherd.

Admiral:

Wow, that’s great!

Ben Saunders:

I remember seeing a cool CD army with orange beards at some point back in the day, probably in White Dwarf, but I’ve not been able to find pictures online.

Red Skullz:

Cheers lads :slight_smile: does it go far back Ben? I’ve got a semi complete collection from 206.

So, the upper level added and some more details.

Getting there. Got a good idea on how I’m wrapping this up now.

Afraid I have no idea. My own WD collection is around 180-220 (UK editions/numbers). I would assume it's probably in that range, but I know that's not very helpful - especially since I'm not even certain that it is. I have been through some of those old WDs fairly recently and don't recall seeing them, so if I have it at all then it's probably in some that are at my dad's.

Yodrin:

Thats going to be an awesome cho cho train!!!

Red Skullz:

Let me know if you find out Ben! Always fun seeing the old WDs. I’m a sucker for the Fat Bloke period myself, man did he inspire me a ton :slight_smile:

Haha, cheers Yodrin :smiley:

Bloodbeard:

Yes! The bases on those old big hats are fantastic! And there’s even snow on the hats.

First noticed the weapon swaps now, that does a lot to update the unit, even though it’s a very small think. and whe painted up your shield transfers couldn’t work better. I’m impressed Red.

But what makes my day is your Iron demon. I get happy aeing warmachines come to life like this (check my blog an see why, you can find my machines on page 1). What’s the front of the machine looking like? What bits are used for the engineers hat?

It’ll be great to see how it looks next to the old big hats and machines, when painted up.

My only concern is the base. I’m all for good looking bases and not one of those “why would the walk around an lava pedistals?” realism guys. But the machine being as big/high as it is (and considering it’s a train), it might look too comical raised on a cliff. I would guess it would look best on a flat bas with same detail lvel. I hope you prove me wrong!

Red Skullz:

@doombeard:

thanks for sharing, beautiful army!

@bloodbeard:

thank you, happy you see that the overall components work :slight_smile:

I’ll check out your plog during this week, a bit busy due to work.

Yeah the iron daemon has turned out to be a very fun project. I’ll post up the final WiPs in a day or two so you can see how it turned out.

The bases are meant to be cohesive due to theme and the planned display board, so trust me :slight_smile:
