Fuggit Khan:

Great pics! Much easier now to see all the love and hard work that went into these guys…I love your paint scheme and I especially love the Big Hat Steamguard.

Will you be making more of these Steamguard guys? I’d love to see an entire unit of them :hat off

Lord Farfocel:

:cheers thanks for awesome ideas and great work,

very inspiring work

May Hashut petrify your foes!

Bloodbeard:

Thanks for all the nice words guys. It’s nice that other people appreciate the work that I do.

I gonna make a unit of 28 of these guys (incl. unitfillers). A 6060 base with fur steam guard carrying a castellan on a large shield. And a 40k mega armor nob conversion on a 4040 base.

Lots of painted guys

This is gonna be a big one (gonna fill up three post courtesy of the “max 10 pictures” rule). All these guys only need basing.

Infernal Guard with Fireglaives

20 IG with fireglaives incl. unitfiller.

I added the bucklers turned shoulder pads recently. I thought the dawi zharr needed some extra armor (lots of armor needed for 4+ save). Every rune is different (since some of them are turned, reversed and such).

Want to make a unitfiller 40*40 base for the unit. Some watch tower/barricade with a fireglaive guard inside. That way I’ll be able to field two units of 10 - without command group.

Close ups of the units command group.

And the unitfiller.

Infernal Guard with HW/S

20 Infernal Guard with hand weapons and shield. I often end up fielding the unit with 28 dudes. So I need to make some more. Gonna make a 60*40mm unitfiller with a chaos warhound and infernal guard beasthandler.

I really like the way they come out. I think the old and the new dwarf warriors work together in the unit. There a 8 old dwarfs with old chaos warrior heads and 8 new dwarfs with new chaos warrior heads.

The shoulder pads does a great job of tying the unit together and making it look coherent.

A castellan. His not likely to ever get used - since my castellan always carry a battlestandard. But it’s a nice miniature. Perhaps in some game with lots of points…

Will change the banner so the poles are behind the flag.

A castellan with battlestandard. I’m really looking forward to painting this banner. It’s gonna be an awesome miniature. His already the favourite in the army.

The hashut runes on the shoulders was a test of my skills - to see if there was any change of me painting nice banner. I think there is.

Second Daemonsmith to join the army. I’ll make some kinda energy vortex he’ll float on. At some point. Just to make him stand out from the regular joes - more than he does.

And lastly the first of 28 steam guard. The regiment will not become a reality before many other project are done. So untill further notice he’ll just be a badass guy in the regiment.

Pledge for februar

Yodrin:

Gz managing your pledge. Looks great, and I also think you BSB is one of the coolest minis in your army. LF to seeing more!!

Sticklander:

Great looking units! And that’s a massive battle standard! Very impressive!

Traxo:

Really an impressive collection of models! Im a big fan of your BSB and Daemonsmith!

I like how your colorscheme is super unique too

Fuggit Khan:

Wow! :o

That is one hell of an update…I love it. So much cool stuff here, I don’t even know where to start, it’s all great. I still love the Steam Guard, that guy should cause fear outright. And your BSB is awesome, that guy simply rules the battlefield with his presence…he is quite the inspiring model (as he should be).

But my favorite: love the fact that you are quite inventive and creative to make a variety of poses with your rank and file troops…very nice!

:hat off

Admiral:

A great deal of progress. Badass leaders and superb unitfiller!

tjub:

Great work!

Thanks for all the kind words guys. Getting a lot of inspiration from your own blogs. That’s what I find reallt great about CDO.

Thanks. I really try to make every model unique. There are some simple tricks to achieve a lot of this. Like making sure the helmets are 50/50 “horn up” and “horns forward”. And making sure there’s as many different shields as possible. That’s basically most of it.

A unit should look uniformed and coherrent - but they are guys in battle, so they should be a bit chaotic to look at.

K’daii Fireborn - 4 more WIPs
I was supposed to play against Khemri today - but the game had to be postponed. But because it would be fighting Khemri, I’ve been working to get some k’daii fireborn ready for battle. … not nearly finished. But now they might be before the game.

Number 2
Allmost a plain Reaper Bones Minotaur. Just sharpened his axe a bit and added some chaos arrows to the weapons.

Number 3
Warhammer Quest minotaur. Cut of his hands to reposition them for a greatweapon. Then drilled through both hands for the shaft. Made from sprue, his old axe head, a part from a chaos warrior axe and an extra spike.

Made a horn swap with a reaper minotaur from some extra diversity (and this guy had lost his horns somewhere).

Number 4
Another reaper minotaur. His horns are from an ogre banner top. Once again I have repositioned the hands and drilled through them.
The axehead is made from two old chaos warrior axes put together. Double bladed is simply mor hardcore.

Number 5
I know K’daii don’t have a banner option. But banners are cool! And after I realized just how awesome this unit will be, I thought the deserved a banner. Will be painted with a burned effect on the edges.

The banner is made from a minotaur banner, a beastmen banner and an old beastmen bannertop - put on a spruepole. His sword is from the mantic ogres.

Close up
A close up of the weapons. Inspired by Fuggit Khans ability to stick chaos arrows on even the smallest of flat surfaces - I’ve been inspired to do something like it.

It’s a super simple, yet very effective conversion. .
(It might be hard to see the arrows on the reaper minotaurs axe and machete - but they are there).
EDIT: Just tilted the screen on my laptop by mistake - that made them visible

Number 6
Will be made from an old metal doombull… but him and me got in a pretty big fight. I hate working in metal. Drillbits, pinning rod and superglue everywhere - and he is still in pieces.

Next up
Adding gut plates made of mantic ogre shields, shoulder pads of shield/bucklers, sprue base for flames and lots of chains. And lots of rivets to those long GW sprue rods.

I plan that their weapons are gonna be chained to them. All this stuff will be made the same way as on the earlier posted fireborn - but make the unit look kindda uniformed.

Latest battle
Make sure to check out my latest battle. Got some high elf slaves (but mostly bloody pulp) for the furnaces of Hashut.

Yodrin:

That Fireborn unit is going to look awesome!!! I love banners to, so I say yea to one on the unit as well. And the one your working on looks really good so far… Great job, keep it;)

Fuggit Khan:

It would never of had occurred to me to add a standard bearer to a unit of Fireborn…pretty cool idea. Just because there is no rules/model/option for it, does not mean it can’t be added for the coolness factor.

Your unit of Fireborn is coming along very nicely, it will be a wonderfully unique unit when it’s all done…awesome stuff :hat off

oh, and I love the added chaos arrows :cheers

Sticklander:

These fireborn should look truly monstrous when complete!

Thanks again for the arrow inspiration. Banners are simply great. Every unit needs one, warmachines too. That’s another thing great about chaos dwarfs - every hero carries two on his back!

These fireborn should look truly monstrous when complete!

Sticklander

It will. Got kind of surprised when I lined some regular dawi zharr up next to them.

Fireborn WIP - a unit of 6

Finally got a bit more work done on the fireborn. Made a core for the flames. Iøll be using a technique by CDO member Kyte, who’s been making great flames from toiletpaper and super glue. A cheap and fast way to do it.

Made sure to line all the guys up, so they’ll be able to fit nicely in a unit. To a few tries. Everyting is pinned together for maximum stability. Especially the manburner. Don’t want him falling apart - ever!

The metal discs on the bases aren’t really necessary. The plastic hold the balance fine. But it’s just to be sure (and even though I hate working with metal minis - I like the weight). The manburner even has five discs in the space beneath his base.

The manburner side by side with two regular dawi zharr - he’s a beast. With some added flames he’ll end up way too cool for his own stat line.

Next up is green stuffing all the cracks where I’ve been cutting the arms.

Next week

Next week is the winter holiday in Denmark. And since I’m a teacher I’ll be having the week off. Now my pregnant wife will properly sleep a lot - so I plan on finishing these fireborn.

Just had a look on that “you spend so much time on CDO” counter - wow… But it’s great place to spend time, when you’re trapped at home with the missus.

I also have three games lined up: 1000 points vs Khemri (a game postponed from earlier). 2000 points vs warriors of chaos (I’l crush those worshipers of lesser gods). 2000 point vs Bretonia (that’ll be really fun).

Never played against khemri or the khemri player. Never played against bretonia and haven’t played against my best friend since 8th ed came out.

Super exciting week! Will write some battle reports.

Admiral:

Good thing with the banner. That Fireborn unit will be a real beast on the battlefield!

Yodrin:

I am really looking forward to seeing some paint on these bad boys

Admiral
I hope they'll do a good job at killing. I'll be playing three games with them in the coming week. I'm sure they'll do a great job against the khemri. WoC and Bretonia - I'm not really sure. To much armour I think.
I am really looking forward to seeing some paint on these bad boys ;)

Yodrin
Should be quite quick to paint. The fire doesn't demand the same time as other stuff, and I plan on using that crackling earth effect GW put out on the bodies.

Should be done before march.

Fireborn - detail
I'll be going to the city tomorrow to buy some buckets of super glue - for the toiletpaperfire. So I made the rest of the detail work this morning.

Added a lot of chains to them to represent the fact that they a slave demons. All their weapons are also chained to them.

I think summoning fireborn must be something of the greatest any daemonsmith or prophet can achieve. The models really should show that.

A bit hard to see, but the bannerchain is going around his hand. The gloves will be painted in my army colour (purple), so I added lots of rivets to them - for some metal colour.

Added some arrows and rivets to his left glove - it was rather boring.

The manburners chestchains are thicker than his comrades.

Added rivets to the chaos arrows on the weapons.

I really pleased with how different the models are from one another, considering the fact that they where similar in the beginning.

The shoulderads, the stomach shield (if you can say that about a firedemon) and the crossed chest/back chains make gives the unit some kind of uniform.

MadHatter:

Amazing work you’ve done.

Love how you’ve brought the bull back with those K’daii, can’t wait to see them finished
