I'm not sure what that's suppose to mean...I think in general it's an almost perfect swap from the original rule. For fireborn they are more resilient vs str5 or less but lose out vs 6+(ironguts hammerers) so net is a slight buff. But the reroll to wound on the destroyer is about the same (weaker vs war machines better vs str 5-8 worse vs str 1-4 and 9-10) so they buffed an underpowered/overcosted unit (still worse than every 8th ed mostrous cav in resilience) and made the weaknesses of our best unit more clear (str9-10).
My .02 at least(I wish fireborn had 3 wounds or 3 attacks either one would have made them a real combat threat)
Can the chalice of blood and darkness be used after rolling to cast a spell but before your opponent attempts to dispel it?
I know people say it is covered by “at any time” but isn’t it better to have it stated clearly as there is clearly still debate?
Same goes for engaging the boiler and pivoting first. It seems reasonably clear that you can’t pivot, but it is better to ask and get a clear yes/no response.
I know people say it is covered by "at any time" but isn't it better to have it stated clearly as there is clearly still debate?
I'm afraid there is no debate any more here. FW said "any time". Whether they measured how powerful it made the artefact or not, they gave a clear answer.
There is a debate on how powerful is this object, like many many others in WFB, not on how it can be used. FAQs are about how to understand and make clear the rules, not how to reduce their powerfulness.
If ever they didn't realised how powerful it was when they wrote "any time" (which i doubt), they surely realised now. If they want to reduce its effect or increase its cost, they will do it without our help. And probably won't.
It is pretty much the same situation with the Ogre Greedy Fist.
I do get your point. I just think it is worth asking, they are free not to answer and I would prefer to have it written down in black and white. What harm does asking the question do?
There are other FAQ answers that “clear up” rules I never thought were ambiguous.
It looks good to me and worded appropriately on all points. I’d say get the names and ship it off as quickly as possible since there’s been a whiff that they are planning a new FAQ update soon.
Regarding the Iron Demon’s boiler move - this is the one rule which is more clear than any other in the entire book. No turning. Ever. When using the boiler. A pivot counts, whether at the start of the move, during or after - it’s done in the movement phase, as part of the move and uses up movement. It cannot be done. Full stop.
It looks good to me and worded appropriately on all points.

:hat off Thanks, good to hear.
So seems like composing the mail is next.
@rageaholic:
The problem with the chalice question is that it implies that they did not understand what they acually wrote ehen they answered it the first time and that might get them annoyed.
That's why I would like to refrain from any blazing body, chalice and ID-movement questions.
I believe GodHead just has the deep and dark fear that he will receive his super-awesome destroyer and then will see it banned on every other occasion ^^ So I somehow can understand the urge to “nerf” the extremely strong units to avoid being called a “beardy” player (lol) of a “IMBA/nobrainer” army… And in all honesty: I aswell was quite annoyed to see blazing body change completely instead of a “6s always wound”, as I just hate to have the “wrong” rule written in my book.
But still: I don’t think the FaQ-mail is the place for it.
@ GodHead
it's silly to see how you spam this forum more & more with trying to nerf the K'daai's.
But its clear that you dont care what the rest of the community think about it.
horlely
I posted 2 comments in 2 threads.
I guess that's spamming? :cheers
I don't care what the rest of the community thinks. I'm not a democracy, and I never will be. My opinion is a dictatorship. I'm not sorry I didn't consult you on what I think makes sense or not.
The rest of the community can tell me what it thinks. But it can only do that one individual at a time. The idea that you, or anyone else "speaks for the community" is laughable. So please let me laugh at that. Ha.
I can tell the community what I think. There's a great tool for that, it's called a forum. Maybe you've heard of it? It allows for the free exchange of ideas between individuals.
If I didn't believe the things I posted, I wouldn't bother posting them. You're free to rebut me. I'm free to surrebut. But to characterize my reasoned posts as spam (I recognize that I copy and pasted one to the other), is pretty insulting.
I started this thread to hammer out FAQ’s not listen to you talk about this that and nerf whatever. That is for you GodHead, so make a different thread about your two bits and leave them out of this FAQ thread.
Despite the bumbs over all this thread has gone well on hammering out the questions that still need asking. For clairtys sake and those of you who seemed to have lost sight though I am going to go back over a few points from one of my earlier posts about the topic of this thread.
1
I do not care who you are or what your on about or how you think the game plays. Only post questions about topics that you know not just think but know are not clear. If you can not clear it up on your own or with friends or by sitting down and hammering it out logically then yes put it in here. But if there is a known answer do not ask. If the answer is known but you don’t get it still dont post it here, make a different thread and the community shall try to help you get it. This is not an attack this is me attempting to clean up my thread before it goes insane.
2
If an item has an answer to it, I do not care how much you dont like it or still dont understand why its like that. DO NOT POST A QUESTION WITH A KNOWN ANSWER. IE Chalice yes the answer of ANYTIME is insanely powerful, but the question is answered. You can use it at anytime in either players turn. You dont like it tough, we have more answers to figure out. If we get lucky and GW makes us a proper book, then we can hope for a more balanced item.

Stop putting personal comments in this thread, just fraking stop it. Yes this is serious, you don’t ask your boss for a pay raise with a kidding about tude or come off snarky. You do it with respect, this is the same idea, we want grey areas made black and white, same idea. If you are not getting this ask Mom to explain it.

No one should spam anything, I am not accusing anyone of spam, but since it was said I shall address it. No spam no repeating no asking over and over. You ask a vaild question (one that has no answer in any book FAQ OR ARMY book) once. That is it. If it is one that makes into the FAQ grats, if its not tough more than likely there were more pressing matters.

Not a clarification so much as a rules point. There is a thread on ash storm over in tactics, take all your ash storm and open ground questions there. The spell is long winded, but clear as day. Since I already am addressing it I shall explain that open ground is terrain as per the main rule book. If under the effect of ash storm and you do the only movement possible, that effects you, flee then yes you take dangerous test. Anyone looking into and seeing more than that is just wish listing and needs to stop it now.
Clean it up act your damn ages and lets get this book back into shape and no more damn infighting.
I realize it may be too late for this, as it appears that Deadly Deceiver already sent the FAQ, but I was curious as to how a Host of Chaos would work if a Chaos Dwarf was selected as the paragon.

I understand being upset but this part is silly...The question about ashstorm is needed because the 8th ed rule book is not 100% clear if open ground is terrain. I started that question in tactics and guess what its not as if everyone had the exact same response. In fact some people had a pretty similar issue as opponents think it should be ruled differently. Unlike gw where i may never get an faq response(been a few years....) At least forgeworld can clarify ash storm just like the tk book has it clarified. granted in tournament settings 95% of the time yes open ground is terrain....but i like clarity for every game I play. Ohh and I agree the times you take dangerous are only for those stated in the rules (not normal movement). But in quite a few cases people will choose to flee a from kadaii or get hit by a hellcannon ect and then making em take dangerous for it makes the spell pretty sexy.
I do find it interesting how this is the only army specific forum that tends to rule in a negative fashion when it comes to faqs and its book (chalice and destroyer come to mind lol).
Okay, stop taking the topic off course, stop posting in inciting manners and look at what the thread is aimed at, please.
at this point, any further contributions are fairly null since deadlydeceiver has already sent the FAQ.
Lastly, rageaholic, the reason not to add the Iron demon question is because there is no question about it. The rule is the clearest one in the book and by asking it, the question, unfortunately, discredits the rest of the exceptionally valid questions and makes it come across as though we’re whinging about rules instead of asking for necessary clarifications.
