[Archive] ForgeWorld FAQ 2.0

deadlydeceiver:

I realize it may be too late for this, as it appears that Deadly Deceiver already sent the FAQ, but I was curious as to how a Host of Chaos would work if a Chaos Dwarf was selected as the paragon.

Hmm, Page 171 states that CD can be used "as Contigent Forces in a Chaos Great Host".
I always thought that would imply that a CD cannot be the Paragon of the Great Host...

unfortunately I just thought of another FAQ question regarding the iron deamon hellbound. in the points section of the book for hellbound it says only the impact hits and thunderstomp get magical attacks not the crew. to me this means that among the three attack methods spoken about only thunderstomp and impact hits are magical, not the crew. but some people seem to think that the steam cannonade is specifically excluded. to me it seems that it is just not mentioned. personally I treat the steam cannonade as not mentioned and refer back to the rules for hellbound on pg 175 that states that all attacks are magical, and since steam cannonade was not mentioned it would fall under this category. this could clearly use a faq.

deadlydeceiver:

Oh well, and I just remembered the querie with hellbound stating that the “war machine” receives +1 wound and some people are saying that the Iron Daemon is not a war machine as its unit type is unique… thus it won’t get the add. wound.

that's interesting, I haven't heard that one. yup, needs a faq.

Samanos:

I do find it interesting how this is the only army specific forum that tends to rule in a negative fashion when it comes to faqs and its book (chalice and destroyer come to mind lol).

that would be because Chaos dwarfs did not have an official book for years, and now that they finally have one its FW not GW which causes some people to treat it differently thinking the list is broken etc. So its logical that people might not want overpowering units in order to avoid further criticism and negative views on the army by other players.

To me, there is no contradiction : they could have written everything in one section but, in the first section : all acttacks are magical.
In the second : the crew don't make magical attack, and they precise that thunderstomp is magical (because the thunderstomp never benefit from a special rule without any precision, and for impact hit, I believe that the FAQ on impact hits and special rules was written after the release of Tamurkhan book).

Maybe this should be FAQed as well. As it is worded now, War Machines don´t get an extra wound either. Read the rules for War Machines in BRB if in doubt. A war machines wound are as many as there is crew, so by adding more wounds to the profile of the war machine does nothing. :(

You know what would be good? To have a process whereby we, as a community, put together an FAQ to send off. There could be a stickied thread that people add queries to when they think them up. Other members can then try to answer the questions and then (say) every 6 months or so, a moderator (or volunteer appointed by the site) goes through the outstanding questions, finds those that haven’t been satisfactorily answered and sends them off to Forge World.

I agree with this so that we can as a community get stuff done.

Vardan Painkiller:

I have absolutely no idea why chalice is seemed as so OP, dispellscroll negates spell automatically and is cheaper, noone tries to ban that.

A dispel scroll can be used once. The Chalice can be used 12 times.

Whats its power level?

it is one of the major reason i think chaos dwarves are in the top 5 army spots.(about the same power level as daemons, skaven, dark elves, warriors). it basically makes sure at least one spell a turn goes through(chaos dwarves side) and prevents 1-3 spells a game(granted its usually not the best spell of the phase..but still). + its 50 points so it can be taken on a lvl 1 hero...yes please.

It's over 9000!!!!!!

GodHead:

Potential bad news for all you FAQ optimists. At least one person answering emails for Forgeworld doesn’t think they have any plans to update anything ever again. Just got this email:

Hi Eric,

Thank you for your email. We have no plans to re-write or revise the current Tamurkhan errata…

If there is anything further we can do to assist you, or if you have any queries about the information we have requested or provided, please telephone us.

Regards,

Forge World
Take with a grain of salt, just one guy answering emails, etc.

Method:

Well, that’s that.

Gotta just work with what we got I guess.

French_noodle:

Oh great. So one guy answers there won’t be any faq some days after another one told there would be. How nice.

Even if i received the email saying they were planning on a new FAQ, i believe more easily they aren’t. How typical of GW…

Guess we will have to keep playing with copies of emails and community-made convention rules.

Hashut’s Blessing:

That’s the reason that an e-mail answer for a question isn’t official - they don’t confer, just someone answers what they think is right.

Sherlocko:

Yeah, about that…

New FAQ!!

this link brings to the "old" FAQs or I am wrong?

Zuh-Khinie:

Awesome!!! Saved to desktop immediately

At the top of the document is says ‘amended 25 feb. 2013’

Sherlocko:

It works for me. Pretty sad that they didn´t fix that Hellbound add extra wounds in-game, not just on profile. :frowning:
