[Archive] Is this worth a thread? Only you can judge that, my friends

Don’t like change, (arranges brushes neatly), change not good, (mutters to self, and re-arranges paint pots), not good at all, (brushes in wrong spot now, moves over them a bit), Head Hurts (mutters again … bumps table… begins to panic) …

aka_mythos:

I don’t like it because it isn’t immediately apparent what some of the colors are, just from their names. I’m guessing XV-88 is a brown?

vulcanologist:

A tau orange maybe?

This message was automatically appended because it was too short.

Well said sir (:

Agreed, yes we are a bunch of nagging bastards and we should be more open to change as I heard somewhere that is is good d:

But I do like it as the name clearly implies the content is a red or whatever color. I do a bit of drawing/painting as well (comics, canvas and whatever) and if I buy an inc or a paint of somekind I prefer the bloody obvious over the cool.

This kinda feels like another stupid copyright GW attempt...

In the end it will be all good as long as they only change the name of my  Vomit Brown. That is more a yellow unless you are color blind.... I think... (looks for pot... cant find pot.... panics!!!!)

Zuh-Khinie:

And all I wanted was a new pot of brazen brass :frowning:

Time of Madness:

Here are the new paints

It’s annoying because it means another step we have to go through to work out which paint to buy to replace are existing ones. Independent stockists will have to change their displays again in some sort of gradual way.

theforgefather:

I wonder what GW will do with the old paints? they still haved the 24 man packs of LoTR models in my local.

Vogon:

So did anyone else get this?

Just so happens to be the number of colours on the images that Time of Madness posted

Thommy H:

Yeah, this is obviously what it’s about.

Time of Madness:

Release date is March 24th 2012. I expect they will be blowing out the old stock of paints at cheaper prices and replacing them with the new ones.

Haha! Don't be silly, It's GW ;P

Anyway thanks for the info, I'll probably get myself a couple of paints to see what I think.

Borador:

Pain in the butt that they are changing the names, on the other hand, I do like that they are adding colours.

Say what?

Dark Angels Green = Orkhide Green = Caliban Green?

Last time I checked DA Green and Orkhide were not the same colour… or even the same kind of paint (regular vs. foundation)

I would actually say they are very close in shade.

Also for everyone who didn't believe in the copyright theory. All paints are now trademarked. Conspiracy FTW!

Thommy H:

No, that wasn’t the “conspiracy”: that was the “actual reason”.

Also, I’m slightly annoyed, because I defended this on the basis that the transition would be supported by conversion guides, etc. but they seem to be being a bit weird and corporate about it - the base paints are the equivalent of foundations, right? And are shades the old washes? Because they don’t appear to be even acknowledging that they used to do things differently. Tell me which one devlan mud is please.

warh:

It’s the earth one, can’t remember the name :stuck_out_tongue:

Thommy H:

Yep, that’s what I’ve heard. But why aren’t GW telling me that? I want to buy your product, GW, why are you making it harder for me?

Agrax Earthshade apparently. From the "conversion chart". But as they so conveniently note, it may vary.

I guess we have to buy White Dwarf and the painting book/dvd to get all the goods.

Hopefully then the new bases cover as Foundation but doesn't ruin the brushes in the same way.
