I really love the bull-icon, the gold turned out great on it. What are you using to make your bases? Good texture and they look very sturdy.
As for an icon or symbol maybe you should start by naming your force and extrapolating from their? Are they a standing legion, are they raiders or slavers, a body-guard for your sorcerer prophet? Maybe they guard some important feature of the dark lands (or the mountains, or the chaos wastes). You could get along way poking around a map of the dark lands. The purple armor makes a really mystic impression on me, I could see something like a stylized eye or hand working well for their symbol (maybe in white?).
I forgot password and had a bit of trouble resetting it. Got there in the end!
@Carcearion Thanks for giving me things to think about regarding the symbol. I haven’t named the army yet, but I so know this unit will be a Sorceror Prophet bodyguard. The eye sounds great, I may go with a sort of horned tower with an eye. I’ll do a few sketches.
The Gold is actually Vallejo Model Colour Brass with a heavy black wash as I wanted it to look very dirty. Then went back over the edges with the brass.
The base is 3mm MDF with a 1mm layer of cork, then lightly covered with GW Stirland mud, then sprayed black and drybrushed with a few shades of grey.
Very nice! I cannot help but think that some bright little spot on the helmets would liven up the unit, but on the other hand that’s just the impression you’d want these exiled warriors to give. Imprisoned within their armours, their dark faceless figure stands in contrast to the opulent big hat freemen.
My WIP “Overmaster on Great Abyssal Dragon”. I managed to make use of the Warhammer World exclusive Daemonsmith in the army. I’m really happy with how this looks!
Thanks all, I’ll need to psyche myself up to paint that thing! Will start soon I hope.
My Immortal Guard needed something extra than just all black armour. I’m keeping the gold for the regular dwarfs but demoted these guys to bronze and metal. I want to try some verdigris effect maybe but have never done it before, I don’t want to ruin it.
Also need to pick out the black armour in a brighter highlight I think.
The musician looks great! nice effect with the two halves on the face plate, I think that’s a good way to go! I personally think the black armor looks good how it is, but I’m highly biased against extreme highlighting. Although I don’t think going a shade or two higher would hurt anything.
Agreed, very nicely done :hat off
You did a wonderful job with the colors of the drumskin, it has an accurately 'beaten' look to it. Nice attention to details you did :cheers
If you want to highlight the black armour a bit more, you could try a very careful drybrush with Leadbelcher or something alike, make it look both worn and a bit more highlighted.

That's a really good idea. I went ahead and used a sombre grey to highlight but as I'm trying to go for a worn look metal might be better.
My first attempt at rust and verdigris. Actually pretty pleased with how it came out. The armour sure isn't as pretty but it captures how I see these guys. Worn weathered armour from their time guarding the towers of their overmasters.
