Helblindi:
Yup, rust and verdigris works all right! I never get verdigris right, but it looks good on your trooper.

My first attempt at the basing for my army. Sadly this photo doesn’t show off the range of greens as well as in person. I need a proper photo set up.
Instead of the normal volcanic bases I’m going for a corrupted version. The Supreme Iron-Caster, in his vile experiments with the abyssal magic, has corrupted the land. I was inspired by the Fel from World of Warcraft.
Malorndk:
That looks awesome tbh!
Unique but in a good way
Murkwood:
That looks awesome tbh! Thanks! I thought on it for a while but I've decided to go for it. I'm pretty happy with the result. Suits my army theme, vile corrupt alchemy and Skaven (Ratkin) slaves. Also, green goes well with purple!
Unique but in a good way

Darkmeer:
I like it. It’s almost necrotic in appearance and it fits the Skaven slaves idea quite nicely. Good work!
Pappa Midnight:
Strange and unusual looking… I like it!
Is it going to act like lava (glow etc) or is it some unspeakable goo?

Slavemaster Hod:
I like it. It looks like industrial sludge or slime. Is it painted, or is that just what the material looks like?
Murkwood:
Thanks guys. I envisioned it to be green lava… it turned out more like sludge or slime. I painted greens on to the base and then used glossy mod podge mixed with a fluorescent green ink to give it that thick looking finish and also an overall green tint to help blend the green paint.
I want to give it a glow, I’m hoping a light drybrushing of green on the rocks after they are done wil do the trick. I’ve never tried to paint glow from lighting before.

I've never tried to paint glow from lighting before.I'm no expert but I found on my lava light dry-brushing in an upward direction only from the light source looks ok. Slightly lighter tone nearest the source and remember to catch under any over hangs. Also, if any part of the mini hangs over the base a very light drybrush under it continues the effect ( like under the severed head for example).

Abecedar:
Very nice idea, actually brilliant. Polluted Lava, now that has brought a smile to my face.
Murkwood:
My Maw Cannons arrived from the Macrocosm Dark Dwarves Kickstarter. Going to be using these as G’rog Mortars at some point. Also, mini-Iron Caster at the front.
They remind me slightly of the Ohmu from Nausicaä of the Valley.
Murkwood:
Here’s some more photo’s of my Overmaster on Great Abyssal Dragon that I entered into the Golden Hat. As I said in the winners thread, this is the first monster size model I’ve ever painted. I was nervous to begin but thank you to all that encouraged me to just do it.
I’m happy with it, but I may add another highlight layer to the wings and also work more on his flame hand.
Malorndk:
I think its really good and such a monster is always a huge investment! Really nice and even better with larger pics
Abecedar:
your dragon is great. I really liked it
Pappa Midnight:
That a very nice ( and big) beasty indeed! I especially like his glowing eyes.

Admiral:
Great working finishing this big monster with rider! Your efforts paid off, and the colours contrast strikingly. :cheers
Carcearion:
I love ALL the purple on this guy! The colored armor plates and wings look really great! also I don’t recognize his head, what line is it from? is that a scratch build?
Zanko:
Hey you are a real Lizard King … awesome! :hat off
Btw. the model is great too! :cheers
:hashut
Jackswift:
Well done. The colors work well and the converted rider fits nicely. I agree that another highlight layer would benefit the model. Keep it up!
Murkwood:
Thanks all, had a lot of fun doing it!
@Carcearion
It’s a Warpfire Dragon from Forge World, it’s a hybrid piece using torso and wings fom the GW Dark Elves Black Dragon kit.
*I just realised you were probably referring to the the rider… my bad. He is the Warhammer World exclusive Daemonsmith. I was going to keep him for an AoS army, but realisticly that’s not going to happen as my Kings of War project is far too large. So I looked for a unique way to put him into the army.
