Rumour from Warseer

http://www.warseer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=211757&page=4

Well, I’m the one who originally posted that FW was going to be working on CDs. I had it right from the mouth of the studio manager at GD Baltimore in front of wittnesses. I’m not surprised that there have been more questions and a supposed confirmation that GW at large will be “updating” CDs.

I’m not shakey on if they are doing them, only when they plan to do them and to what extent FW and GW will be sharing the project if it isn’t simply a FW only project.

Xander:

Interesting rumour.

wallacer:

Yes, I thought it was one of the more definitive ones i’ve seen so far.

Jangrim:

I heard somewhere that Forgeworld had categorically stated that they weren’t going to do any Chaos Dwarfs. Have any of you guys heard that?

My new style chaos dwarf is finished and will upload soon

Baggronor:

"broken" armies like VC.
Don't get me started again... :) VCs are only broken if you play them that way, same as many other armies. The only difference is that any muppet can do it as it revolves around stacking 'those' items using any filth list pulled off the net and maxing out on magic, as opposed to say, a filth dwarf or DE list which requires at least some skill.

Kera foehunter:

yea it another warseer rummour!!

Grimstonefire:

Or put another way, I think it’s much easier to make a very competitive list with certain armies.

I would be curious if CD could ever fall into that category with a new book?  Probably impossible to tell at the moment.

Grimstonefire
If we still have 30 point 2-for-one bolt throwers, multiple Earthshakers, 2 point Hobgoblins and LD10 heroes then we'd definitley fall into that category.

Firehammer:

Perhaps it is good to sum up the Warseer rumours:

1.) On Chicago GD someone at the official internal presentation asked whether there will be a Chaos Dwarf release. He got the old standard answer that CD will someday get an update and are not forgotten. This was unduly blown up to the rumour of an imminent CD release which is VERY unlikely.
2.) At Baltimore GD in May, a FW representative said for the first time that FW will do more Fantasy, including a complete race and that this will be CD. Original quote:

Alright guys, I’m fresh back from the convention where I talked to one of the guys at the Forgeworld both. He was very friendly and shared a few details that I’m sure you will enjoy. Firstly Fantasy is going to get a lot more face time with Forgeworld. They are planning on adding significantly to their fantasy range in the next couple of years.

I asked him if they were planning on releasing armies similar to the Krieg and Red Scorpian forgeworld only lines and he said that they were. I then told him that I was a long time Chaos Dwarf player and asked him specifically if Forgeworld had any plans to make a Chaos Dwarf army one of the fantasy armies to be released. He not only said that they had plans to do Chaos Dwarves, but said that they were on the top of the list to be done.
The original poster reminded us on Warseer of this fact today.

3.) Officially, in a letter, FW denied an imminent CD release and said that these were just rumours. Wording leaves room for speculation though.

So I put my money on a Forge World CD release within 2 years.

wallacer:

Yeah, a lot of the debate on Warseer seems to be about whther FW will release them or whether it will be some kind of joint release.

I have to say, I don’t find it at all hard to believe that FW might want to cash in on Fantasy a bit by (at least) releasing some of the bigger stuff they tend to go for like Tauruses, Lammasu, Earthshaker and maybe Bull Centaurs. If they can manage that as well as a GW sanctioned army list then I’ll be very happy with that (better than nothing, imo).

I’m still hopeful that something’s going to happen for CD, just not sure what or by whom.

/agreed

i think as long as they do something with CD, i could care less. i used to tell people when i quit that i would only come back if they redid CDs. looks like i got my wish. as long as its something.

Hazkar:

some new minis would be cool, but to be truth:every army on this site has tons of character

with new minis there would be a huge wave of all-looking-the-same armies

i know guys who start every year a new army cause “this army looks so cool”

they put no heart in their armies and that is sad

and i dont want that happen to cd

two_heads_talking:

i really dont think any teens will play CDs. i think they will be looking for more "broken" armies like VC.

Taedae
Who says that a rereleased CD army wouldn't be broken?  If it is does happen to be an overpowered army, expect everyone to jump on the bandwagon.

two_heads_talking
i thought of that. thats what i am afraid of also. i dont think they will "break" us. we are already have a strong list from what i can tell but i am no expert.

Grimstonefire:

That would be just great… :~ I’m as much a fan of gaming as much as the next person, but if we see extended discussion of deathstars or unbreakable gunlines on CDO it will be a very sad day.

They don’t NEED to make CD broken, if they made every army mid tier in the first place there would not be any issues imo.

On the plus side, if they made our warmachines just a little more expensive than we’d like, I cannot see much else that would really put us in the top tier really broken category.

Cheap hobgoblins will not win battles all by themselves, and aside from BC the rest of the army is M3. So imo the unbreakable gunline of uber death is the most likely thing that could be broken.

wallacer:

Worrying about whether our newly released army book is mid tier or top tier would be a nice problem to have.

yes it would.. I'm ok with that problem

I think teen would jump on the cd army
it would be like when ogre kingdom came out. All the young one wanted it
then 3 month you could buy there army real cheep:hat off

wallacer:

Unless thing have changed since I was a kid young gamers think the evil armies are cool. I suspect that a bunch of slaving, torturing, steampunky evil Dwarfs would sell pretty well in the teen demographic.
