Giacomo Mercator, Celestial Wizard
Hailing from the Border Princes of Tilea, Giacomo came to the dark realms of the dawi Zharr in search for artifacts and gold. Now he stays there, offering his services to the Sorcerer-Prophets in exchange for not being fed to the Furnaces of Hashut.
The mighty Sorcerer Prophets of Hashut divine the path their race will take through the fire and flame of the mighty furnaces, offering countless poor souls to keep it lit brightly.
However, sometimes an outside source can provide valuable insight, and occassionally even divine things the Sorcerer Prophets can not be bothered with to scrye for.
The Celestial Wizard Mercator is one of such servants of the Chaos Dwarfs, accompanying the Vongalazthag Violators on their Blood Bowl tour after their game against the Sylvania Sunbathers as an Assistant Coach, as his - limited, compared to the mighty Prophets - divining powers are helpful in seeying the hopefully right tactics and what players need to do to improve.
The model itself is the Limited Edition Crisis model we handed out past year at the event, and in my eyes one of the more versatile sculpts we have had so far. His style and dress means he can be used in a wide range of historical eras, as well as a Wizard for fantasy gaming (as I did, with a twist to include him in my force) or a nobleman even for RPG settings.

The model was sculpted by Paul Hicks and had a run of a 1000 copies, so sorry for those intrested but it will be quit hard to get your hands on one still. Just attend Crisis 2012 in November and don
t miss out on the next limited edition model

500pts Hobgoblins - the planned army list
Well, as said a few days ago, somewhere around july TSA is going to run a 500pt Warhammer event thingie, and I decided to pop in with the Hobgoblins.
Miniatures shouldnt be a problem, just need to paint / repaint most (aka, all bar 3) for them, but as the LPL is dwindling down (2 more entries to finish) that should be doable.

I went out to draft an army list, and this will be the force I
ll be sending into the field. Ironically, it boasts more models then the 2000 points Chaos Dwarf force I made my come back
with…
The general: Khan on Giant Wolf with shield and heavy armour
Okee, I cant take a spellcaster as general, and I doubt the odd lvl 1 or 2 is going to make to big an impact on my force (I
m probably so going to regret this statement). I decided on a basic hero, no magical flishflashs’s and mounted as the only model in the army just because the Hobgob mounted hero is such a cool model.
Core troops:
1. 20 Warriors with shields and full command.
Again no fancy reasoning here, a Hobgob army just needs a solid unit of Hobgobs to take the fighting to the enemy (or each other)
2. 50 Karash
Hopeless stats, think South Park Operation Follow the Blackies
. A huge block (Horde) of slaves whom model wise will be made up of Mantic and old metal GW zombies, as well as a whole assortment of models from historicals and other ranges mashed together, with the occasional Ogre and such. Battlewise they are next to useless, but in small battles like this their sheer size might be handy if not to only tie stuff up.
3. 5 Hobhounds with a Packmaster
Because I have this cool idea for building the unit, cant say much yet. And it can serve as a protection unit for either my war machine or as a small flanking unit to hunt scouts and flyers.

Special Troops:

Sneaky Gitz. 18 of them including a chieftain.

I love Sneaky Gitz. Always adored the models, was madly inlove with their special rule of unlimited lapping and saw them take down massive beasts due to his rule combined with their poisoned attacks. Was the one
no-brainer choice for the force.

Rare Troops:

Rokkit Launcha

I love War Machines and templates. I converted one of these a while ago way before this book appeared, as a sort of follow up to the Bolt Thrower. What this indeed turns out to be according to the fluff in the book. Did I inspire someone perhaps? No idea, but now I can take this machine of rocket driven death for what it is....

So thats the whole force to be assembled and painted up.

Benefits:

* huge numbers with 94 rank and file troops, a war machine and a character
* 2 out of 4 units don
t cause the others to panic, so I can play around low leadership and panic tests by interweaving the force during deployment
* lots of poisoned attacks with the gitz and their additional hand weapon can help getting round high toughness opponents.
* Template weapon to hopefully cause a dent in heavy armoured units
Downside:
* Next to zilch mobility with all the large move 4 blocks
* Yell BOO hard enough and half the army probably runs off. Being Hobgoblins, the rest will follow without a doubt…
* No staying power should they get locked in combat apart from their initial rank bonus
* No magic support

Nice to see those bright old school colors ^^,
Keep it up.

Lord Aldades:
It has been a while since I updated the blog, but then again, it has been a while since Ive been painting for my forces with all those Lead Painter
s Leagues, Brush Slave Leagues and Golden Hat entries lying around.

For the previous BSL round, which earned me a nice draw, I entered one of the more
funny orientatedentries for the unofficial Hobgoblin army book, a packmaster with hobhounds.

Now, case is, I still had the 3rd edition Hobgoblin packmaster, but only 2 of the old metal Hobhounds, while the unit required five. I as such ordered with Mega Miniatures some
domestic dogs, namely a set of 2 chihuahua
s, a poodle, a beagle, a bulldog and a scots terrier, each costing only around 1.5 dollars.
I did need to fill up the cavalry bases, as the animals are true 25mm
scale, so look small compared with the heroic 30s of GW, so some left overs from Mantic Zombies (soon to come into my Legion, keep watching this place) littered the bases and ready to go the unit was.
Now, I personally think an Hobgoblin force is more suited for whacky ideas, in the genre of normal goblins, Halflings, those kinds of forces, and Im enjoying adding odd things to the think tank and the
to do things, but eventually the force will be completed, the first goal being the (won
t be finished) 500 points army I had planned for a tournament in july. Itll be the
regular Chaos Dwarfs now competing there, but that doesn
t mean the force won`t be painted up.
Expect to see units made of Heroclix in the future, as well as a certain infamous yellow rat that has been incorporated somehow into the army…
Lord Aldades:
Preparations for the 500pt skirmish tournament this sunday are completed
An Old Belgian Otaku: 500 pts Chaos Dwarfs: the B-List
Lord Aldades:
Seems the list needed to be updated, so grabbing back to the good old Ravening Hordes, the force had a little make-over and a small
addition
An Old Belgian Otaku: 500 points update
Lord Aldades:
One of the project Im still wanting to complete this year is a 24 points force for use in Hordes of the Things, in scale 15mm. The iniatial wood elf plan was exchanged for a force of my one true love, the Chaos Dwarfs, and since then I
ve been scouring and ordering from various manufacturers for suitable models in (evil) dwarven ranges.
Not a simple task, and the force will also host a substantial part of greenskin slaves to bulk out and because those models are far more frequent to find then suitable dwai zharr, but the first models I painted up and based today are the Kdaai and their Destroyer equivalent, which will be used as a Behemoth and a set of monsters (the large troll etc entry in the HOTT book).

The K
daai, of which I based two on a single base, are fire genies from the Magister Militum range, while the Destroyer is a fire elemental from 15mm.co.uk, both aquired at past Salute.
Lord Aldades:
When I first downloaded the unofficial Warhammer Armies: Hobgoblins army book, one of the units I definitly wanted to include in the budding force was a large block of Kharash, or slave units. Planned for the 500 point tournament last week, I failed to complete the army in time, but that doesnt mean I
m not going to keep building one.
There are better fates in life then being caught in a slave raid by a Hobgoblin tribe. Tens of thousands of slaves are labored to death in the fields of the Eastern Steppes, and they are the lucky ones. Many are traded off to the Dawi Zharr to toil in the forges of Zharr Nagrund and end up as sacrifices to Hashut very soonish.
But when the tribes go to war, they gather all their slaves together in large blocks and herd them onto the enemy lines, to soak up the enemies missile fire and confuse their ranks, in an utter disregard of life. Think a bit of Operation Follow the blackie
from the South Park movie…
But these human shields are also great opportunities for doing something with excess models in your collection. When I first tried to decide what to use, I was looking at a bag of 75+ Foundry Dark Age models and a heap of Curtseys chinese troops I still have lying around. However, considering their
valueI soon decided against that and keep those models aside to trade off left or right.

Then I found some old 4th edition metal zombies (8 or so) and saw an idea... if I
camouflage paintedthose models, in which the wounds and all where painted over as normal flesh, one would see ot zombies, but very scruffy, unhealthy looking humans.

And I can keep my hordes of greenskins to make the still traditional Ravening Hordes list
slave troops of Orcs and Goblins.

I also had a set of 30 Mantic zombies from the not to be planned Superhero campaign, which left with Creepy Corridor Andy to places unknown, and the bulk of the force was decided upon. It was about to be numbering 50 models strong, knocking me only back 100 points and not causing Panic in Hobgoblin units when they fled, ideal sacrificial blocks in other words.

Filling up the unit with some unit fillers, the first of two 50 man units as such was created. For the second one I
m slow and steadily adding models to it, as I build that one using a model each time of the opponent beaten by my Chaos Dwarfs (in whatever game I field them, being it WFB, BB, HOTT or something else) since 2012, so currently it numbers 7 models (out of 6 WFB and 6 BB games).
For the unit fillers, I in the end placed three in them, namely an Ogre they caught on a raid somewhere, an old Shadow Lands Spirit of Man
and a certain yellow rodent that farts electricity… and I so wanted to include Pikachu in my forces one way or another for sheer annoyance factor for my opponents hehehe.
DAGabriel:
PIIIII-Kachu!!!?! You are right, should be an annoyance factor. Could represent a mage with electric potential, throwing lightning around.
Edit 07.09.12: Happy Birthday!
