Golden Hat:

Whoa, Grim! That Giant is amazing! More pics please!

Admiral:

Besides, where can we see your Trollforged casting progress? If you’re about to cast the Chaos Dwarfs, that’d be really sweet.

Grimstonefire:

These are the models I’m having cast:

Ed is doing them in plastic, though I can’t give a date by which they will be complete yet, sadly.  Hopefully within the next month.

As I happen to be posting, I’m doing some sculpting today on a giant boar I made last year. (nothing to do with CD). Ever since Nemesis I’ve wanted to do an eastern themed Orc warboss. So I figure I might as well have a go now.

Admiral:

The infantry greens really are going to be cast? That’s great news - I’ll buy some of those later, along with Baggronor’s - although I’d be worried about GW’s legal agents pushing a case, if I were you.

Borador:

@Admiral: if there would be a probable legal case I dont think Troll forged minis would cast them :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Barth:

What kind of arms?

any chance for blunderbusses?

I keep saying this and I havent ordered anything (but I do mean it, it all just a financial misunderstanding). I love those infantry greens, arms or no, I would love a few to mix whit all the other models I really need to order!! keep us posted and post a lot so I wont accidently miss the great news!!!

Grimstonefire:

@Barth

I made a fancy triple fire handgun, which I’d love to have a unit of.  But I have to remember that people will want a basic (traditional) blunderbuss, so I’m going to have to make some of those instead.

The models you see may not have blunderbusses, I’m sculpting a set of 3 more that will have them.  I guess I could do some arms for the warriors as rear rankers.

I may try and do some great weapon arms for those when I get the casts back.  The earliest indication I have now of when I will get my casts for sale is early August.

I need to do more work on the elite guy I sculpted.  The body has a piece of plastic tube running though at the shoulders so they will have a perfect fit for swapping.  I also wanted to do the head separate (with optional hat head), but I can’t seem to come up with a head design I like. :~

Most of the last week I’ve been sculpting an orc warlord on a giant boar for a competition over on troll forged.  It’s going to be a very nice model in the end I think.

Grimstonefire:

A small update here.

I’ve been working on the Berserkers, using the second of my diorama style bases.

I’ve got 15 virtually finished for assembly (6 finished, with one needing the base painted).

For those not familiar with my fluff for these guys they are chaos dwarfs who get trapped inside the realm of chaos (for various reasons), then get summoned to the battlefield.  They appear from a tear in reality (more on this in a minute), and are frenzied and completely insane.  The metal they have on them has proven less resistant to corruption, hence the blades from their arms/hands.

I had planned to use 5 of the 20 AoW slayers for skaven slaves, figuring 15 berserkers was enough.  But I’ve had a change of plan and I’ll use 4 of these for the back row.  The 20th model I’ve decided to do something a little unusual…

I’m making a tear in reality with a bloodletter creeping through!  Quite hard for me to visualise quite how to make this, but hopefully it will come out ok.  It’ll go in the middle of the back rank.  It also happens to serve the purpose of the summon marker, should I ever use the rules I wrote for them.

Onto the pics.  The middle guy is the Dark Chanter.  I forgot I wrote he counted as a musician as well as I’ve made one of those, so I guess he’s just a champion. I need to touch up his skin actually as I changed the colours I’m using for CD skin (using codex grey in every stage now).

Borador:

Looking good! Is it me or does the middle guy miss a thumb on the left hand? :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Grimstonefire:

Nah, just the angle.  Though the one to his right (facing forwards) has his middle finger up!  You don’t get that many spare hands in the set and I wanted to keep some spare where I could for bits.  I think you get 2 with the middle finger up.  Quite fitting for an evil dwarf.

Edit.  The fluff I wrote

Since the Chaos Dwarfs first started to dwell upon the seductive nature of dark magic, there have been those who have had to suffer most unimaginably horrific of fates.  In millennia past it was predominately caused by magical accidents as the mysteries of Dark Magic were unlocked, but since the opening of the great tear increasing numbers of Chaos Dwarfs have been trapped or dragged into the Realm of Chaos.

There they dwell, tormented for years immeasurable and fighting frenziedly against the daemons waiting in the hell beyond.  Within the Realm of Chaos, where the laws of time and physics do not apply they are quickly driven mad, doomed to fight on in the hope that they may one day return back to the real world beyond.  Too stubborn to give up, even death is no release.  Should they die their spirit lingers, drawn to fight alongside their god in an eternal struggle.

Occasionally they will be mercifully summoned back to aid their brothers in the field of battle.  Their bodies materialising as if from nowhere, it is a chance to die with honour and be granted eternal peace.  The berserker madness will often mean they simply see the battle as part of their eternal struggle, and should they survive they will be pulled back again to the nightmare beyond, disappearing as suddenly as they arrived.

Borador:

Hehe quite funny actually (:

warh:

Looks sweet! makes me thinking about getting that set.

I like

Vogon:

I’m a little late to this party I’m afraid.

Grim, this is a fantastic Blog the quality of both sculpting and painting is easily on a par with a lot that can be bought comercially. I am very interested in buying some of the miniatures you are getting cast. How is this going to work? Are you selling them or are they being cast and sold by a third party (Ed)?

I’m just starting building and painting my own Iron Daemon and am keen to see how yours turns out.

Truly inspirational.

Cheers

Vogon

Grimstonefire:

Ed is currently moving some of the existing range over to plastic, I’m still hoping for early august for mine to be completed. He’ll sell them from the store as usual, but he’s also sending me a load to sell to UK and european buyers as it should work out cheaper than paying postal admin fees for non EU sourced goods.

I’m planning to finish the berserkers first, then the giant, then the iron daemon.

Admiral:

Those Chaos Dwarf Berzerkers are ace conversions.

Piachu:

Wow, some fine conversions here ! :cheers

The background is also a great part.

I wanna see more :hat off

fonejaker:

So for us in the uk, will be have to go thru you to get them or trollforge?

Besides, do you have great weapon arms ready to be released? I'll be interested in those when I come around to put in an order (it might take 'til christmas, however)
