Some WIP shots of my Deathshrieker.
I can tell already with this model it’s as I thought it would be. Relatively easy to paint, but difficult to paint well. I’ll be fine tuning this for months (if not years) tidying up all the small mistakes.
Also, thanks to JMR I’ve FINALLY decided how I will be making all my hobgoblins. I’ll be using Stormvermin with gretchin heads (which I will be casting or bitz buying cheap). I say finally, because I’ve been undecided for about 6 years… :~
Not cheap, but a damn sight quicker and easier than sculpting/ converting/ casting all of them. It’s also very close to how I imagine them anyway. Plus, basing hobgoblins on skaven means I will have plenty of conversion possibilities with all the existing models that will all be compatible.
I plan to do a Deathmaster Gorduz Backstabba at some point. :idea Just cut the tail off and give him a gretchin head. Job done.
So some time soon I will be getting 40 hobgoblins with additional hand weapons. I did a test model that proved to me this will work, but I’m not so happy with the head I sculpted so I’ll replace that.

The stormvermin bits are expensive, yeah, so I first looked into making molds to cut the costs somewhat. I came to the conclusion that the parts were too complicated for me to cast however. The other bits didn't seem worthwhile to make molds for, as they're not too expensive. I believe Hoard-o-bits actually sells packs with around 48 goblin bits (heads or shields etc) in one go for next to nothing.
My hobgoblins with bows use the Gretchin heads exclusively. I'll see if I can put a picture of 'em on my blog.
This reminds me... I still have bits to build around 50-60 more hobgoblins x.x

Your Deathshrieker looks great btw (as does everything in this blog), and I'm also still very curious about your troll-forged warriors.

I have looked up bulk buying just gretchin heads (I took a look at all of them and decided I only really liked those, they look more sinister than the other goblins), but they’re sure hard to find. Even bitz buying for the quantity I need it will be cheaper for me just to buy the box and cast them. 
Casting stormvermin (not for sale of course) would be impossible for me to do as the parts are way too thin. Seeing as I’ve waited 6 years to get a proper CD army I’m prepared to spend a bit on it now.
Something I will be doing though is sculpting some bows that look like this but like they’re made from iron and casting them.

A couple of things here.
No pics, but I’ve ordered 40 stormvermin and the gretchin. So things will be moving ahead on them now.
30 with 2nd hand weapon and command. 10 with ungor bows.
Also I’ve been taking a very good look at the Infernal guard and I’m thinking I will order some. Sculpt some masks on the helmets, resculpt the beards, add some details on the chest and back armour, resculpt both the upper arms.
Think I’ll order the 10 with HW and the command. See what I can do with them.

Your Deathshreiker is looking very nice Grim! This is a bit of inspiration for me to get finished with my Iron Daemon and the DQM so that I can move on to my Deathshreiker as well!

I like FW Infernal Guard but you have yours ;)

The Death Shrieker rocks! Lovely colors and the smoke at the bottom of the rocket is a simple touch that gives it a lot more charachter!
About the robot I agree with Bassman, is a little bit too hard-looking for a unit of cannor fodder (it’s a Hobbo unit filler isn’t it?). It would look perfect as a Kdii IMO

I’ve finally got my 2 boxes of stormvermin and some gretchin. Plus I got some ungor bow arms.
I’ve also got some Infernal guard (with HW) and I’ve been playing around putting in a magnet in the shield arm. It will work nicely, but it’s going to take a fair bit of work to get them looking how I want.
