First up we have my first Infernal Guard. It’s still a WIP because I want to do something to his helmet.
I’m also not entirely sure I like the back. It’s devoid of detail, the belt helped a lot imo. Still not sure. I did consider giving him a cloak actually.
The magnet is in the upper shield arm, with a loop of wire pinned into the lower arm of each. They are going to be a really big pain to rank up…
Also some hobgoblins. I need to make a mould for the heads.
Thought I’d put some WIP shots of my Battlerager/ Manburner.
The legs obviously need a lot of work simply to look roughly the same proportions as the rest. The look I’m going for will be chaotic; random spikes and odd shapes and the arms/ legs will not look the same.
I’m going to put some rivets on here and there, maybe a smokestack on the back(?) Other than that though and some small greenstuff arrows etc I’m not going to be doing much structural greenstuff work. I plan to do some flames coming out of the arm/ hand.
I’m considering giving him an underslung wrist blade exactly like the wing tip blade on the bale taurus.
Overall I’ve surprised myself with how imho I’ve managed to get it roughly in the ballpark for fantasy(?) A walking robot for fantasy is next to impossible to get perfect (as I mentioned elsewhere).
I could also put some pics of the hobgoblins I’ve painted up I guess.
Nah, much as I don’t build legal lists any more (I’m a collector), I like to feel it could be used without complaints (from me or my opponent). So I’ll stick to 20mm.
Incase it’s not clear, the reason they will be a pain is because anyone who has these models will tell you they rank up with not much room for manoeuvre normally. The problem I have is that not only do they have to rank up with HW & shield but with space for GW as well. Which will prove tricky.
At the moment I’m slowly building up my unit. I’ve sculpted a couple of new upper arms and cast them to give some variety. The main thing holding me back (as it always seems to do) is the lack of bases to put them on! I have the mantic bases, but as you can see early on in this thread I’m doing more of a unit base effect. Which will take ages, hence the delay.
I got them off ebay. Just look for watch cogs. Check the weight of some of them though, you can pay a lot more for some than others.
@brother_cov
Cheers. I really wish I could complete it faster. I’m spending a lot of time at the moment painting skaven. I’ll get back to my CD in february I think.
How are the miniatures that are being cast coming along? Rather curious to see more progress on those chaps (IIRC you wanted to do great weapon arms for the aswell right?)
First up the AoW lord that I’ve done a bit of work on. That guy is an absolute beast of a model, standing at least a head taller than any other Dwarf.
I knew just looking at it I would not be happy until he was shorter so I carved out the head and the beard above the arms and resculpted it so his helmet looks like it’s going behind his hands. As the IG will mostly be standing on rubble the height difference has gone away.
I cut off the elbow spikes so he’d rank better, incase anyone spotted it.
Second my WIP hobgoblins and a shot of some painted ones. Not that you can see much in the pics. The one holding the heads still needs work. I really like the Murder Boss (bottom right), a characterful and seemless conversion without any greenstuff.
