JonJon:

I like them very nice, please advise when ready for sale

Taurian:

To answer several questions, the original evil dwarf warriors are currently being cast. Ed needs some colourant for his plastic and a couple of bits for his machines he's building but other than that I expect at least a limited initial release in the next few weeks. Followed by a general release afterwards.

These models I am thinking I will go to a contract caster, so they will be metal or resin. Although I don't want to risk sending them to Ed and risk waiting 9+ months again it would be nice to have them in plastic... I could probably get them out in a couple of months if I really worked hard.

As I've already had one stupid question answered, I may as well hazard another one...

This is just out of curiosity, but since you went through great trouble to sculpt this and I imagine wish to paint and add this mini to your army, are you going to paint and add the original sculpt or one of the first run of castings? I just sort of wonder what becomes of some of these original sculpts. One might think that the original sculpt should be saved for a possible later mold in case it's successful enough for the demand to exceed the capacity of the initial mold. But I'm wondering if sculptors are willing to stash away such a pile of their greens like that.

Grimstonefire:

The greens I send to Ed I might as well leave with him for future moulds. I don’t know about contract casters, it probably depends whether they are likely to be making enough that the mould will break down.

If I do get the greens back I won’t paint them, but glue them to a base and put them (eventually) in a display case.

Ghrask Dragh:

Great stuff again Grims, I love the stuff hanging from the beards and belts :hat off

Kera foehunter:

Yea!!! go get them grims perfect as always

Bolg:

Ohe I completely missed this update on your model range. Stunning!!!

I’ll ad these to the list of models I really want from other CDOers when I ever run into some money.

Grimstonefire:

The  first one.  I have another 4 ready to paint.

Undecided on exactly how to do the bases for now (they will be the same as the rest of my army, but whether to make them themed in a particular way etc).

The greenstuff work ended up being just sculpting a bit of cloth like a saddle.  Nothing fancy, but it helped make the join between them look a lot more natural.

The wolf I wanted to look more ‘evil’ than the GW painted ones.  I don’t really see bright white wolves surviving long in the dark lands.

zobo1942:

Those look really good - well done!

Mr Saturday:

Ah, the wolf rider looks great. I have exactly the same plan for the hobgoblin wolf riders, nice to see the scale looks right.

vulcanologist:

Looks good Grim! Mine are still waiting for my current project to be finished!

tjub:

I like your wolf rider! Do you have any WIPs, before paint?

Grimstonefire:

Here are some http://www.chaos-dwarfs.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=10667&pid=184655#pid184655

Grimstonefire:

The Boss painted and based and the first one based.  I decided to put some dags on the clothing at the back to make them seem more orcish/goblinish.

I also decided on what I was going to use as a reoccuring icon for shields and stuff for them.  I was struggling to decide on whether they would be sufficiently awestruck with the fire/bull iconography to have a bull type emblem.  Then I decided that the CD would most likely not want the HG to be using their holy symbol.  So I ruled out the bull.

I did consider something more like the orc skull but with horns (infact my HG standard bearer has this on one side.  In the end though I’ve decided on using a volcano as their emblem.  It’s sufficiently primal and powerful that I can see them almost worshiping it.  Not so easy to do on a large or small scale, so I will mix it in with the horned skull here and there for variety.

After all that you can’t actually see it in these pics!  Doh.

warh:

It’s looking really good!

Cassarus:

Oh that does look rather sexy yes, I like me some wolfriders :hat

JMR:

I guess I’ll have to buy myself some of those wolves sometime too. I still have plenty of Hobgoblin bits anyway.

Looks good, Grim!

P.S. Poke Trollforged with a stick some more

Skink:

Sweet! Looks damn good dude!

Admiral:

Just as Hobgobbo riders should look, although some Mongol hats or 5th ed hobgobbo hats would look fine, too.

Grimstonefire:

Another two have come on a raiding mission to my painting area.

Sorry it’s a bit repetitive with the same figures shown, but I think they are looking very nice as a unit and thought I’d show them that way.  Next shot will be the final model, which is already half painted and based.

I’ve had so much fun assembling and painting these guys I’m strongly tempted to make another 5.
