[Archive] The Slaughterers (my new blog)

warh:

Haha, there worthless :stuck_out_tongue:

The old chaos warrior head works great, is the other head sculptured?

The dark metal looks awesome!

Grimstonefire:

It’s sculpted onto the front of the Infernal head. I’ve done a few more like this as I find them far too plain.

Skink:

Well, putting feet on bricks gives the mini a more dramatick pose IMO so go for it! Also, I like the little conversions you did like sclpting belts and beards. Subtle and effective! Nice paint jog too!

Admiral:

Oh, great IG! I’m surprised how well the old Chaos Warrior head works on the new FW Infernal Guards. That might call for some investigation in the bitz box…

By the way, nice Chaos star on the other IG’s helmet mask. Chaos stars are fiddly to sculpt, but you pulled it off with without flaw.

I know it has been a while, but I am curious if you have any inside track about the Troll forged evil dwarfs/GW arm sets?

I will be making a large order soon as they are available and have held off on other purchases in anticipation.

gIL^:

hey grim been waiting a year for the troll forged stuff, Any sign?

Grimstonefire:

I am going to clarify what will happen to the moulds he’s already made if he posts the models back to me.  I’ve been screwed over so much already I don’t want him to profit out of my work at my expense.

So watch this space.

gIL^:

Good on you Grim if you need any help kick starting this give me a shout.

Grimstonefire:

I will wait and see what Ed’s response is on the mould question.

He’s spent so much money on his new machines (at least £5k from what I remember), that to not have them working must not be an option for him.

But if that is what happens, or it looks like an indefinitely long period, I will ask him to destroy his moulds and post the models back (I don’t want to be outpriced for my own models and not receive any money from ones he sells).

Then I’ll probably rework the arm joins and send them off somewhere else with a few more models to fill the mould.

To be honest I would be happier just selling the greens and leave the rest to someone else to worry about.  The main thing is just having them for sale, profit is not a primary concern.  I might be tempted to do that actually, sell the greens to someone who wants to take them into production.

Edit.

As I happen to be posting I’m going to try hard to get another 5 Infernal Guard painted this weekend.

Grim whatever you need to get those models with GW's plus your 3 recent ones into production let us know. I have faith you wont Zonk
(Zonk is now a verb, ex "I got zonked by a guy on bartertown") us, and I would gladly supply some capital now to help get the effort going in return for models later.

Grimstonefire:

That is a kind offer, but I would not wish to impose on the community that way incase something unexpected happened.

My policy is never to send money for something where the person doesn’t already have the models in hand, so I would not expect anyone else to.

Capital shouldn’t be an issue as long as I’m only doing one mould.

Sri’hc the Slavelord:

Ive spent a good chunk of my afternnoon digesting this blog and Ive really enjoyed it. Loads of inspiration! I hope something can be done getting your models out there as I for one would partake. Looking forward to your next update.

Keep up the good work

Grimstonefire:

My latest progress on the Gravello.  Or the Terror Bull (need a name).  As discussed in another thread I’ve just glued sharp/ highly textured gravel on with No More Nails (extremely strong glue you pump through for DIY projects).  The grey layer underneath is sculpey I haven’t baked yet, so I can gouge deep between stones and drill if I need to go deeper.

The teeth present something of a problem.  Not sure what to do because it depends partly on what I intend to do with this model and partly on whether lava/daemonic fire bulls have teeth…?

The plasticard on top I will put a fancy armour plate there, on the lower back and on each leg.  A bit of detailing to link it more to CD.

Grimstonefire:

Been a while since I was able to update this. Boring real world stuff keeping me very busy.

I’ve been trying hard to make progress on my hobgoblins. I’ve got a unit of 30 with 2 hand weapons, 20 with bows, 10 wolf riders. All pretty much assembled with some requiring heads.

I always like your job. They look “messy” though. I think that with them you somehow missed the wrecked city atmosphere you were going for.

Grimstonefire:

4 more hobgoblins.

It’s actually surprisingly hard for me to come up with a proper ruined city that doesn’t start with me doing cobblestone bases (as I will never do).

Note that the battlerager guy here is my test model for painting up my Warmachine Khador dudes.  Which are waiting for heads.  I am also considering attempting to cover them in flames… Not this guy though.

Skink:

Again, love them. Specifically: which bits have you used for the Hobgoblin boss?

gashnag:

where did you get that lammasu

Bolg:

Oeh, looking forward to seeing how the Terror Bull ends up!

and way cool unit filler for the Hobs (:

CopperPot:
