The look real good and there should be very useful to many here.
No, Ed has said they will be resin due to cost.

Sound strange, as Ed sells most of his miniatures at the same price - resin or metal. Think it’s more to do with him specialising in resin rather than costs really. Cant say I’m please to see these go out to the US to get cast. Such a petty you cant get them done over here so the would be affordable for us Europeans - as I would have loved getting a warrior unit
I think he’s trying to move over entirely to resin where possible because metal (apparently) is just stupid prices now.
Which I understand, considering he has to get a profit out of his half of the selling price. At least this way we can try and keep the price fairly low. Which would compensate a little for airmail.
Postage is the least thing that concerns me. No, its the 20-25% VAT, 4.7% Customs duty - and then a horrendous administration fees, that turns any US order above like $25 into a nightmare. An $50 order can easily end up doubling the price for a EC customer. And that kills my interest for US miniatures. And yes know about marking packages with a fixed low values, or marked as gift. But Customs Service do check such packages, too - trust me on that
There is an idea I’ve had to get around this potentially, but it would make them more expensive within europe. I’ll have a word with Ed and see if we can arrange something.
Posted it today. Said they were worth £500 so I would at least get something back if they’re lost.
I’ve been making some enquiries and I think I may be able to distribute them myself at a more reasonable rate to people in the EC.
Ed was talking about $2 a model (around £1.20), and I think the cheapest I could distribute them would be around £1.20-£1.40 a model (+P& P ).
Depending on the import terms for different EC countries this could be a massive saving as you won’t need to pay custom duties or admin fees and I’d make the price VAT inclusive.
What would people think of this price? Reasonable, too little, or too much?
I would order models in batches of 200 rather order to meet specific requests as it would be cheaper.
I will need to run through the numbers again just to make sure.
It always a balance between price and quality. But judged on the previous TFMs I’ve bought, I’d say that £1.75-2 is a fair price. And can you do them cheaper than that its a bargain, really.
Sounds like good pricing to me. The idea of buying in bulk and then trying to sell them is a good one, but maybe keep a tally somewhere so that people know how many are left at that time.
that is a very reasonable price IMO (plus it is also very keen to sell them around that price -> cheaper then WF, which means you possibly have a bigger market then they do ;D) Got to think about wether or not they fit in my army

Mine are £2 each for the rank and file now, considering the costs it kinda has to be around that level to be worthwhile at all. I think less than £1.50 is dangerous territory Grim, you want the sales to pay for themselves and the next batch, and leave you profit to funnel into the next set of minis, absolute minimum. And that doesn't even take into account your sculpting time. Even Heresy and Hasslefree rarely go under £2.00 for a single mini unless you buy a load of them. I know it isn't your day job (yet ;)) but its only sensible to treat it like it is (not that I'm one to talk...).
As for buying in bulk, yeah, I'd do it. 200 figures isn't actually that many, I've had 1 or 2 people order 40+ in one go, so its not madness.
Don’t forget to send me a few guys, or I might just have to buy them. Pretty soon I am going have a full army of Grimstonefire Miniatures.
I just finished getting Bagg’s shopping cart software up and running, and if you were looking for something similar, I am sure I could help you rig it up.
Ed has said he’s doing them in resin, as 90% of the time when given a choice people almost always go for resin over metal.
He set the initial price, so presumably he’s comfortable with it. I’m thinking of £1.50 a model. Around £5-6 for the lord. If I’m honest I’m not really in this for the money. Obviously it will be nice, but I’m not going to set the prices too high.
The reason I set 200 models per order is because if I go over £135 I may have to pay custom duties to import them. I’ve made enquiries to get an answer and to see if it would be worth just taking the hit instead of paying multiple admin fees. Plus I don’t want to be stuck with hundreds nobody wants, just in case.

This can only because his hole business (customers base) is based on multipart miniatures done in resin. If he was known for high quality single piece metal miniatures like Hasslefree, Heresy, Otherworld, 4A, Titan Games and 50 to a 100 other companies - I'm sure it would have be the other way around. There is a reason why these companies insist on producing metal miniatures despite the resent metal price rises.
Haven't bought some of Ed's newer stuff. But last ones I got was the Rozmax Dwarfs and they cast with a high level of details but using a very light and soft kind of resin. No way near as heavy and hard as the resin's I have from Spyglass and Hasslefree. Makes them pretty easy to convert - but can't say they where a pleasure painting, when used to heavy metal miniatures - you drop them all the time :D

I don't think anyone apart from GW is in this for the money :) Just be careful you don't end up losing money is all I'm saying; little costs of things like cardboard boxes, small plastic bags, etc can add up. Not to mention the cost of importing, as you say.
In the long run if I sell many hundreds I’ll need to look into buying some thick card, and of course I’ll need to add on the cost of padded envelopes (50p each, unless anyone happens to know somewhere cheaper in the uk?).
But at the moment I can very easily make durable boxes for free with all the cardboard we have at home!
HMRC got back to me. Seems as long as I keep it under £135 there is no custom duty. They didn’t answer what I would pay over this… But I’ll keep the orders small I think. Only a few extra pence per model for the postage/admin fee.
