“From the mountains, to The Dark Lands, to the oceans black with soot…”
CDO Presents: The 40th Artisan’s Contest on Chaos Dwarfs Online!
This contest has been sponsored by @Jasko and @Reaver!
The gold winner will receive this rare Titan Centaur, sculpted by Maxim Rosenberg (Rozmax). A huge prize worthy of the XL gold donated by @Jasko !
And the silver winner will carry home a unit of 8 Lost Kingdom Miniatures Bull Thaurs from LKM’s era of physical model sales also donated by @Jasko
Whereas the bronze winner shall receive a glorious badge for their Chaos Dwarfs on-the-line persona. A mark of honor that will doubtlessly earn their one day petrified body a plinth perched on a nice parapet with a quaint view overlooking The Dark Lands on days when the ashes of industry don’t cloud the sky with smog. (If anyone would like to donate a bronze prize feel free to reach out to @Reaver)
And finally one lucky random draw winner not in top three will receive this Maxmini halfling rocket team courtesy of @Reaver
Subject Matter: Bastions, Bulwarks, and Badlands
This contest is intended for 3D entries of tabletop wargaming terrain. This time around we want you to build, sculpt, kitbash, trash bash, convert, or otherwise create a terrain piece(s), a diorama, fortress, scatter terrain, or other gaming scenery. Entries for this contest should be painted and ready to be used on the gaming table. Your creation may be something non-traditional in Chaos Dwarf or Hobgoblin themes or your own unique spin on an established concept.
What better way to celebrate Artisan’s XL than with embiggened ambitions. No entry is too large, no ziggurat too wondrous, no monolith too monolithic, no henge too henge-y. Outfit an entire game table with Chaos Dwarf terrain if you’d like!
We all know we are all sitting on an STL horde of terrain we never print, for games we rant about long enough for the rules to change before even finishing thesis long forum posts. It’s time to take a step back from meta-splaining in unrelated Discord channels and give our Chaos Dwarfs what they deserve… a ziggurat roof over their hat-bearing heads.
Upgrade your tabletop gaming with some custom Chaos Dwarf terrain! Don’t be the person who shows up to game night with a drawer of grey guard of the High Aelfs grey havens and a $400 Citadel Hillock™. Roll up to the field of battle with your fully modular action play-set ziggurat rolling fortress engine complete with neckbeard sizzling real lava effects.
Or make your own cyclopean masonry with trash and foam. Whatever realistic water effects float your playable boat scenery. Immersion and submersion are both on the table. Build a whole Chaos fortress with dwarf appropriate crenelations and a tower from which your overlord can malevolently point as rockets rain down upon helpless foes making an ill fated attempt at siege.
Dioramas of Chaos Dwarfs operating a forge, trading markets, carcasses of gargantuan Dark Lands beasts, a Walhutian igloo with blubberific tannery…
Maybe you need some scatter terrain to spice up your battle-mat. Tar pits, mobile barricades, hobgoblin encampments, or like.. whatever oil rig thingy you’re going to need bring for your AoS Chorf net list of doom to make Wood Elf Slytherinvaneth players cry. Speaking of.. perhaps you like to use psychological warfare against your opponents. Creating ruins of another faction recently sundered by your Chaos Dwarf host would also be within the theme.
Chaos Dwarf themed gaming aids, custom templates, blast markers, objective markers, etc are also well within scope. Every asscannon needs custom blast markers adding, uhm. flavor? (gag) to the gaming experience.
Or you could come up with something else entirely, as long as it’s terrain your Chaotic Dwarfs might encounter on whatever battlefield they are marching toward. This is a relatively open concept so hopefully folks can pick up and finish a project to get on the table or work on terrain they’ve been neglecting to finally bring their games to life. There are no quantity restrictions so enter as much or as little as you would like. Let your imagination run wild and be welcome to surprise us all with unique interpretations!

If you have a question on whether or not your specific entry fits. The answer is probably yes, it fits and we’ll let the voters decide your fate. but feel free to reach out to @Reaver if you have further questions.
