Golden Hat XXXVI: Chaos Siege Giant

To my relief, I have just found out that the deadline is not until the end of March. That’s very reassuring, I’ve only glued the model together and prepared the base so far …

I’d be up for this idea! The base frame of my submersible was 50/50 styrene and sprue.

Trash builds or sprue only?

It doesnt have to be official or anything. Something chaos dwarf related using a lot of waste sprues. You could add cds or wheels or anything else you wanted. Just an idea for fun at some point. I reckon someone good could build a juggernaught or a steam tank out of them. My skill level eould probably produce a stick man haha.

Working hard on my G.H. entry today. Glad we have a nice deadline date. No stress on not making it

Well, I have lots of crap, not so much sprues. Depends if I could join or not :stuck_out_tongue:

Perhaps there could be a mix the of the 2… I would love to see what you build you crafty Dawi Zharr you

Well… just to have enough bits and bobs I dismantled an old broken hifi tower with cd changer and 2 tape decks. I put lots of springs, gears and interesting stuff in a small box. If we do this I’m good to go

My entry is in. Time to finish that emissary. Looking forward to seeing the entries as always!

Also would definitely be down for a trash build contest. I’m good at accumulating it, just need to use it. Perhaps the Reavers need a trash-yacht. a crapamaran? a Litterclad? A … junk …

How you guys finish so fast is beyond me. I am almost always down to the wire on anything paint and build.

Have a core idea, now just to decide on the base model… have three to choose from, and each have their merits for the project at hand. Lately, all my ideas tend to be over the top… perhaps they always were.

Hahaha if it took you a month to come up with an idea, a few weeks to pick a model, a few weeks for it to arrive i can possibly see a reason why you might go down to the wire. Excuse me cheekiness im having a few beers.

Go over the top, the most crazy ideas lead to inspiration for people like me. Good luck, get the match sticks ready on deadline day! :cd1991gif:

Several of those hit on point. Been trying to work with what I have (my model and bit collection has reached that point where I have plenty to choose from, and probably shouldn’t be picking up even more models for the model pile). :tonguewink:

@Jackswift in my specific case it helped that I already had had a nice giant model I wanted to print and paint.

Also, I like to join these contests, but I can’t afford to spend 3 months on it because I also “have” to paint the rest of my army during the lockdown :).

Just printed and modded mine. I should start painting it within the week.

I think this contest will have the most entries that i have been involved in.
If i had to guess id go for 15, but may go closer to 20.
Looking forward to seeing them all. The winners entries may even get immortalised in the next brazen bulletin eh!

:cd1991gif:

3/4 done on my entry now too.

We shall see. Fingers crossed.

Often, the themes of contests can play a part. For instance, if some already have giants finished or don’t plan to get one for their collection, they may skip this. But active CDO membership has sure been regrowing steadily since relaunching it on Discourse, so it’s far from impossible. The most entries we’ve had for a Golden Hat contest was something like 32 if I remember correctly, around End Times days back in 2015, or else it was an earlier round closer to 2010, before my time.

It’s incredibly satisfying to see so many old members streaming back, and new faces join us, after years of general forum decline and rearguard action (the years 2016-2020 were however just as sweet with quality creativity as other years). Virtually all other Warhammer army forums have been hit a lot worse than us, except for Lustria Online who completely bucked the trend. The ability to directly upload pictures to a site with simplicity is crucial. Third party image sharing hassle is understandably too much work for most people when there are better alternatives in this particular regard around.

Now that we’ve got a proper forum with rational archive structure and new gadgets alike, we’re sure back in business, baby! Which will also mean more prep work with contest monkey handling, but it’s a good toil.

Cheers

Hashut is the father of darkness. The more we are left out in the dark the more we thrive. Our ongoing culture project is far greater in scope than any official fluff could ever be.
