Halgar Hellgaze's Doomseekers [2022-08-09] GH XXXIX

The unit of 34 warriors is done too!

Not extremely happy with them, mostly since they too are a tiny bit too big. They are the first dwarfs I printed so it was to be expected. From now on all dwarfs will be 10% smaller.

I know that we all tend to be more critical about our own work than we are about other‘s. Because from point of view: the unit looks stunning! Awesome work

Looks great! 20mm squares are so unforgiving for sturdy chaos dwarves. But its a bonus in combat as more get to fight but bad for war machine templates

Look great @MichaelX - if ranking these up is a pain - consider a creative unit filler to give them the space they need

I’m planning on those of each unit anyway @Oxymandias, but only after the bulk of the army is painted. I know myself enough to know doing fillers is a rabbit hole I should avoid atm if I want to play a decent 2k chorfs army by the summer.

They look scary! I like the way you painted the flames. The green staffs look great too. Nice one

Looking awesome, you are an inspiration!

Apologies if I missed it but did anyone ask what printer you are using? any gripes/regrets/things you’d change?

Thank you!

I have a few.

FDM (for terrain)

  • custom built Velleman/3drag k8200
  • 2x crealty ender 3 pro’s

SLA (models)

  • anycubic photon (the original)

They are all pretty entry level printers and do what they do well. I’m happy with them and I would still recommend them. HOWEVER both crealty and anycubic have made printers with great upgrades that cost the same now as what I paid for mine when I bought them.

The photon is very capable of high res prints but it uses an older RGB lcd. If i were to buy a new printer I would probably look for a monochromatic printer ( single color lcd instead of rgb) for its speed and resolution increase. They are usually also larger so win win.

As for fdm, I would go for the ender 3 V2 or newer.

Tldr; very happy with my printers, they do what I want them to do, but there are newer printers with useful new features that cost the same as what I paid for mine. Always check Google for the best entry level printers atm

Allright, almost done with the blunderbus unit, and a nice standard Bearer too.

Only need bases and quickshade but that’s for tomorrow as I really “wanted” to do some gap filling on my bull centaurs.

I have 7 days left to get these painted and battle ready for the game next week! No time to waste.

I know you work on a schedule, but how the hell can you be this fast I have no clue

Great! They will look very impressive on the field of battle. Also, what @Loidrial said :metal:

I have a theory that @MichaelX has a team of enslaved hobgoblins that he beats and whips regularly.
This team of approx. 10 hobgoblins must paint daily in order to be fed the scraps from Michael’s dinner plate.

Shhhh… :cd1990gif:

@Deebo The ones i whip are not the ones who paint though. It affects their painting too much

Painted a whole lot of models in the last few weeks for the battle next Wednesday. They got their final varnish today!

10 Bull Centaurs

A beautiful Standard Bearer

37 Infernal Guard with blunderbus

Not sure what to paint next, probably something non chaos dwarf before I tackle the other unit of 40 warriors…

So awesome! Especially the standard bearer. Love how you painted the bull’s head on the banner pole, it makes for a great contrast to the overall colour scheme while still fitting in. May they smash their enemies! :taurus2:

Great work! Such marvellous progress and good paintjobs.

Thanks! It’s a recurring thing I try to use on weapons and such, especially for special models.
