Legion of Azgorh build

I had some big gaps too, yes. I recommend using two-part-epoxy to glue everything together. Does a nice job of filling those gaps as well. Then finish with milliput or green stuff.

Were they gaps similar to this? As itā€™s rather worrying :grimacing:

Itā€™s been a while since Iā€™ve built mine, I couldnā€™t say. But across the whole army I had some gaps

I believe I had something similar (on one side of the neck)ā€¦ I pinned it with two or 3 pins, put a large amount of green stuff on the body side brushed the other side with food oil and pushed them together to fill the gap. Then I cut of excess GS, removed the head and waited for it to harden. When it is set, I washed both sides with soap and luke warm water to remove any oil residue. Finishing by letting the pieces dry and then glue them together. If there are any small gaps left they can be eassily fixed with GS.

edit* It can also be worth to check if the neck is bulging too much in the middle, it might be enough to cut away some material to let the head fit more flush. I donā€™t recommend sanding or a dremel though because of the fumes.

Brilliant thank you for the advise! I currently have it pinned and will attempt to green stuff next, I havenā€™t got as far as I had wished but it is what it isā€¦

So another little or maybe a big update depending on what way you look at it.

So I have managed to get the 10 ironglaives painted, I have built the others yet as I want to get the 2000pt army done first.

The death shriekers are built to an extent to where I feel it will be best to paint them at, so build but in pieces so will be assembled after.

I have pinned and started to green stuff the bale Taurus, but I can say I do not like the the current citadel green stuff in a pot, I am sure there is a use but for gap filling it definetly is not of use, so some proper green stuff has been order and some modelling tools so when I receive them I will start to fill the gaps again.

I have also had an idea for the orc war boss on wyvern but do not know how well this idea will work.
Iā€™m thinking the forge world magma dragon if I am able to get hold of one and then do something similar to the orc war boss on maw krusha.
I feel that it is a fitting idea for this list but maybe too big again?

Also does anyone have any ideas where I would be able to get the bases I need for everything?
I do not wish to purchase the pack from the warhammer site due to the amount left overā€¦

Many online FLGS offer square bases since the return of Old World. Just browse those shipping to your location. Or eBay.

Oh yeah, thatā€™s liquid green stuff, thatā€™s for filling tiny gaps, what you need is proper green stuff or milliput or something.

I have managed to source some bases, itā€™s only 20 but itā€™s a start!
I have also managed to fill the Taurus today will upload photos either today or tomorrow.

Here are the pictures from bull Taurus build so farā€¦
The bull has been pinned from the head to the body both legs pinned and wings have got pins so can be removed for transportation.
The bull has all been green stuffed fingers crossed it doesnā€™t look to bad when sprayed.
The throne has been magnetised to the bull so easily removable and the rider has been magnetised as well.

Well done, looks good!

Iā€™m having flashbacks of my own experience with all that Greenstuff work to hide the gaps  Nice workā€¦ canā€™t wait to see how things comes along!!

Cheers guys! Yeah itā€™s been a bit of a nightmare building him to be honest luckily the throne hides the top part when heā€™s on so thatā€™s not too bad!

The two death shreikers have been scrubbed ready to be sprayed and so has the complete drazhoath model, so that is ready to be glued on the final parts before spraying.

Iā€™ve managed to get hold of 3 un built kā€™daai and both of the ltd edition sorcerers. Iā€™d love to get hold of Sharā€™tor and the taruk also!

Does anyone own a forge world magma dragon?

So Iā€™ve done the final assembly on drazhoath so he is not ready to go and the only part that will need gluing after painting is the rear armour plate. I have left off
the armour plates on the Taurus and the two cages as I donā€™t think the model needs them. I may change my mind after painting.

As previously said the kā€™daai are assembled ready to be primed.

One of the daemon smith sorcerers has been assembled and cleaned, for painting.

The death shreikers have been assembled also to the point of painting after from some of the handles (is that the word?) the reason for not putting them on yet is if you look at the photos they are severely warped so Iā€™m looking at how I can alter that, any suggestions?

Also I have got 11 bases ready for painting as well just need to work out how to get the look I want. The citadel technical basing colours are a bit of a nightmare in my opinion as itā€™s the first time of used them and didnā€™t expect for everything to fall off when dry the first time, so after research I realised it needed PVA gluing on the base before applying then PVA gluing after/ during the drying time.

So a little bit of an update for you so far,
Iā€™m in the process of painting drazhoath the ashen so here is some wip pictures they donā€™t really do any justiceā€¦
I am not happy with the fire at the moment so some more work is needed to be done on that.

I am a bit further along on the bases so there is also some more wip pictures on them as well, feedback will be greatly appreciated!

On another note I have also been able to acquire a forge world iron demon! So will upload pictures of that also when I get chance

Another mini updateā€¦

So the great Taurus has been pinned to give the effect heā€™s flying, I plan on putting some rocks/trees on the base as well to add some more depth to it.
Drazhoath needs the silver finishing and his beard and then obviously just go over the mistakes that Iā€™ve made. I still canā€™t work out what to do with the fire as Iā€™m not happy with it.

The iron demon that I managed to get, Iā€™m not sure whether it would be best to spray the whole model silver first? And then paint the black bits and so on, what has everyone else done?
Then the bases for the death shreikers I have pva glued them first as itā€™s the only way in which I have found the citadel basing paints to stick!

Your Drazhoat looks brilliant.
I donā€™t think the fire stands out next to the miniature, maybe it needs to be brighter.

Or maybe you make a magical fire with a color that contrasts very clearly with the red of the armor?

To be honest itā€™s my first time painting fire so I suppose we learn by our mistakes, I feel I tried to wet blend it too quickly? Iā€™ll probably try to do it again but I feel that I may loose too much detail in it?

Another mini updateā€¦

So I suppose you could say this is all the chaos dwarf models thatā€™s are needed for the 2000point old world listā€¦
Drazhoath (still need to do beard and silvers)
Bale Taurus (waiting for glue to dry on base to spray, and will then spray whole model as I canā€™t figure a nice way to undercoat with out the base)

Demonsmith (I have started to paint and will also need to do a base, not sure if I will go for lava effect of just leave with grey base yet)

10 infernal guard (they are finished just need to do bases, there are some examples of the finished bases, I am happy with them and I feel thatā€™s the lava comes through nicely and is subtle enough)

2 death shreikers ( I have done the bases and Iā€™m happy with the bigger cracks on them, I have also come to the conclusion that they may be recasts because of the way in which they are but it is what it is)

Iron demon (so I managed to purchase this recently, I am trying to work out a way to remove the crew so paint with out damaging if anyone can help I would be so happy with the advise!)

I do have a lot more chaos dwarf items that arenā€™t built yet and I donā€™t feel will be needed for this list. If anyone isinterested I can upload pictures as well!

On a side note, for the block orcs, the war boss and hobgoblins I would like to use the AOS models, as I feel they would fit more aesthetically to the army. Has anyone else done this?

If so I do have questions.

How have people converted the hobgrots to archers as obviously they donā€™t come with bows in the box?

The wyvern, I feel that I need to come to terms with the fact that I canā€™t use the magma dragon even though I would love to as itā€™s too big! Annoyingly. I have an idea if I cannot get an Azhag model, which would be a war boss standing on the base with the wyvern chained to him, or him holding the chain as if he was walking dog maybe?

Yes, @Xander has converted the Hobgrots with Bows. Check out his blog for pictures.

Donā€™t think Iā€™ve seen Ironjaws for Black Orcs. The models are certainly big and Iā€™m not sure how well theyā€™ll rank up, but the move to 30mm bases might help you.
