Great work, loving the skin and the highlighting on the armour too

Because I got ppl on Instagram asking, I’ll share here too how I did the skin

4 colours total:

Memphiston red (gw) + magenta (Vallejo)
Orange-brown (Vallejo)
Ice yellow (Vallejo)

  1. 50/50 memphiston red + magenta, couple of thin layers to cover the entire skin

  2. couple of thin layers of orange brown, leaving the deepest red recesses visible, I paint moving the brush from bottom to top, so the pigments will collect mostly on the higher part of the model, making it lighter

  3. add a bit a ice yellow to the orange brown and repeat step 2 but covering smaller areas on the higher part of the model

  4. the lightest parts will get a really thin layer of ice yellow, that will be my zenithal point, also add some horizontal lines to the knees and elbows to mimic the folded skin

  5. subtle, but I won’t be happy without this one, I add a small and focused wash of memphiston on the elbows and knees, to being back some warmth

Finally I painted my first printed model from my new anycubic mono

This is a DnD character from a friend, I hope he will like it
Wanted to make a night feeling model, so I tried a double osl, one from the moonlight and one from a campfire outside the base

I took 2 pics before painting it so I could see where the light was hitting, then I moved onto the paintjob

And this is the result a couple of hours later

With today LONG offtopic post i’m gonna talk about some off-off topic stuff.
I’ll talk freely about this past weekend in Lucca (Tuscany) one of the most beautiful city in Italy.

Lucca Comics is the biggest comicon in entire Europe, and second biggest in the world, so you can understand the amount of anything, people, money and everything involved in this huge event that runs every years at the end of october till 1november (holyday in italy, celebration for all our deceased people)

It’s really something magical.
and expensive for the wrong reasons lol

in case you are wondering, GREEN OAKS is a RPG manual where you role as an elder person in the hospice/elder care house, but the elder himself is an ex [insert dangerous profession] with the hobby of [insert usual elder hobby stuff] and the entire game runs around the odd things that happen in the life of an old man and their odd convinctions, like nurses giving them drugs, worshipping of satan, young kids music, aliens, reptilians and so on lol

we even had the chance to see 3 weeks before it will come out in the cinema the new ghostbusters movie, getting a free preview + free tshirt

i had the chance to assist to a big 10mm battle as well

and to go to the Theater with my gf to see 2 famous italian voice actors, reading the closing part of Dante Alighieri’s Divine Comedy, the 33rd aria from the Paradise book

if anyone of you will ever visit Italy in that period, believe me and visit Lucca (generally, just visit Lucca, i mean, look at it!)

And this is all, from this awesome long weekend I had, i truly needed some time off from my spirit crushing job. Now i’ll go back painting some more things! i bought some liquid pigments as well! gotta experiment more and more!

Ciao!

Cool, looks like a great place. Lovely old city, makes me think of Carcassonne… :stuck_out_tongue: Btw, didn’t Luccan run Blood Bowl World Cup a few years ago?

Yes they did!! It was an official world cup! There were more than 1200 people and the event lasted 3 days long!
It was just a couple of days after Lucca Comics as well.
That was massive!!

Holy hell Loidrial! Excellent work! I especially love the shading on the produce and the dwarf! This piece is really evocative, lots of action in a still. I’m so jealous of your skill.

Hahahah grazie! That diorama brought me so much joy, it’s fun and different from the usual tones people have around.
I think the feeling of something small, some daily accident at work, something that could happen at the corner of the street, gave to the whole piece a more believable and immersive feeling.
:rankcd1:
Or maybe I’m just an idiot and I have no idea what I’m talking about!

It really does bring some realism to the setting, which should be absurd to even think about considering the setting at large, but it works great. It’s art like this that draws me deeper and deeper into the lore. So many stories untold, all locked in the minds of fans like you. I eat this shit up.
