Lord Aldades faces the Medusa: BATG 2024

The next part of my someday to finish War Cry warband has been finished.

That is 4 demolishers done, only the two command models and of course the awesome flamethrower to go!

But those will be for in a few weeks, now to pack up my bags for a 10 day outing with the little man.

A simple paintjob finished next, with one of the Underworlds terrain pieces I obtained earlier this year.

To be honest, it was mostly painted as a testbed with the poisonous clouds to see if that would work when I start painting Skabbik’s warband.

As I need to boost my numbers before a certain Nova release becomes available for order, so I finished an “amazing” amount of 2 figures to close this month.

Well, at least it brings my numbers in the good range again, as they where bumped up with the Rivals of the Mirrored City earlier.

The first one I finished was cousin Balin. Because 4 years after painting Thorin himself to celebrate the birth of my son, it might be about time to do the rest of his company in between.

And the Horns of Hashut also received a freshly finished member, with the flamehurler done, leaving only the Ruinators to complete now. I might actually get that whole warband finished by the end of the year…

Watch this space, tonight I will personally kill my chances of succeeding in the BATG this year, as I bought two lots (one of a large Idoneth army, and an Underworlds collection spanning the seasons 2 to 5), so my mountain will grow immensely…

So, I did some driving around yesterday evening to two gaming buddies of mine who are selling some parts of their collection.

While I still have to scrummage through the lots exactly, and for which I’ll make short video’s I’ll share in this blog as such, the counter is now up by a gazillion.

The first lot, an Idoneth force, contains 30 figures for the collection and I paid 130 euro for the whole force. Inside the big box are some blisters as well as such.

For the second, huge Underworlds selection I shelfed down 500 euro, containing 26 warbands (some still sealed) as well as 4 Seasonal boxes (the Nethermaze which I lack myself even sealed) and a starter set, as well as a heap of promocards and tokens from events.

But the tally for the miniatures I didn’t have as such from this lot is 68 figures, meaning this little excursion bumps my BATG to paint counter up by a staggering 98, almost double of all what I managed to paint during the whole year so far.

Guess the last 3.5 months of the year will mean paint like hell and see if we can still pull it off anyways… yeah right, but we will go down brushing!

Hey, sometimes that certain haul comes along, and you just have to take it. Awesome that you could get so many things you’re interested in! Happy unboxing!

Here is the small clip of the Underworlds Haul for starters. Now to sort it all out first before having space to begin the Idoneth… and then paint as mad

Hauls like this may seem a batg pain now but I had one of the best painting years of my life right after getting a mystery box.

Nobody can be expected to pass on such opportunities! Looking forward to seeing what you do with all these goodies.

And the smaller part of the haul tour last weekend, the Idoneth. Now to filter out what I need for my Spearhead day the 22nd this month, and try to finish as much as possible…

Starting on the path of redemption for this year’s BATG, I managed to finish some Morsarr riders for my Idoneth spearhead.

Though I won’t be able to finsih the full force before my “playdate” next week, with 10 thralls still in undercoat and the shark not even assembled yet, it does bring a little positive scoring for this month.

If I can just finish about 15 models every week I might still be able to end the challenge this year with some good numbers

Only finished something sumple over the weekend, though I have been making good progress on some larger projects.

But for now, one muddy pool is all that there is to show for…

Making the best of a few days off from work, the Namarthi Thralls are finished for my Spearhead game coming sunday. This one unit is actually split into two 5 man squads, meaning I now only need to finish the flying shark in the coming 3 days to be ready.

And with the Skarkanado (or, with my dice rolls, Baby Shark), the full set of models needed for Spearhead has been finished for the game coming sunday.

This has been the last time I go in full crazy and paint up a (small) force in about two weeks worth of an hour every morning, I’ve gotten to old for deadlines…

A small piece just for a relaxing breather after the deadline painting of Idoneth…

Now to finally finish that Warcry band, some Underworlds and then FINALLY can start rank and file painting Chaos Dwarfs for this year

And the final miniatures finished for september, as I AT LAST rounded out the Horns of Hashut with both the Ruinators.

And the obligatory group picture will be placed in my generic hobby blog on this venerable site.

The first day of the month, and this morning I managed to varnish and finish the first model as such.

Nothing to fancy with another one of the Beastgrave terrain pieces, hopefully the coming days I’ll finish some good numbers of models (relatively speaking at my paint rate) as I’m off work for a few days…

Finished the next warband, and one I will definitly take to a tournament come 2025 (with 6 Underworlds tournaments in the pipeline here in Flanders, it are good times), the Hrothgorn Mantrappers.

I just love the ogre with his over the top crossbow, joined by his kitty and traps… oh, and some gnoblars to keep your bow going!

(Tournaments that is what saturday shall bring for my beloved Underworlds)

Some more Underworlds have been finished, as Hedkrakka’s is my very modest contribution to Orktober.

With the edition 2 announcement, I was just glad the older bands will eventually still be playable, or I would have been painting stuff already all year for nought lol…

And with this lovely lady finished, I can field my first 1000 pts “casual” for the Idoneth at last, though that does include the two legends section Underworlds warbands to get there.

Still, that’s one focus to scratch of from my goals this year.
