Be great to do a meet up like that one day, especially if they get Warhammerfest back to where it was.
Maybe we could rent a few tables at Warhammer World one day and arrange a Chaos Dwarfs vs someone event with another forum (me talking like I’ve got an army Skirmish at best…for now)
Always wanted to go to Warhammer world, have a look around, have a game on one the tables and have a beer at Bugmans bar… so far away though and now with this covid crap and having a child it seems even further away
Yeah I mean compared to some of our poor remote antipodean friends on here it’s a bit less of a journey, isn’t it? Tbh you’re vaguely familiar looking, I think there’s a small possibility we might have done a gig together some time in the distant past (mind you, live music seems like such a long time ago now it’s hard to be sure).
It’s not that far from us down in Essex. I’ve been to Belgium for a drunk lunch and come home for dinner lol (admittedly it was a bit of a stupid idea and I spent most of the day on the train, but it was a fun lunch).
Yeah I was in a few awful bands and spent about 4-5 years of my life as a semi professional performance poet. Semi professional because I got paid which made me professional but I wasn’t very good which made me semi professional hahah.
Yeah sounds like we’ve probably floated around in a few similar circles then. I’ve also been in a few crappy bands. We’ve probably played a few of the same dives, although tbh I was always too busy panicking about how much I was about to embarrass myself to pay much attention to anyone else on the bill!
But seriously, I’d be interested in a meet up at some point in the near-isch future. Best after covid crap has died down a bit more though.
As @Habitual_Lurker said, it’s not that far, maybe 5-6 hours from where I live by train. I’d prefer spending the night though . Dont fancy spending half a day on public transport.
A band I used to play in actually opened for Bruce Dickinson in Manchester. We played to literally nobody and had to leave about an hour before Bruce even turned up to the venue.
Hahaha this is far too familiar a situation, I’m getting the flop sweats just thinking about it.
(Mind you, we never opened for a celebrity of Bruce’s calibre. But I’ve definitely performed to 2 bored people who turned up to see a very different type of music anything we had to offer!)
Well if you’re heading over this way, I have a spare room and a futon if you give me a bit of advanced notice so I can actually clear all the junk out of the spare room. The futon currently has terrain drying on it.
Not exactly luxurious but it’s better than sleeping on a train I guess.
@MichaelX , you’d probably be amazed how many Belgians have already graced my futon. I used to dj quite a lot of raves, you can’t throw a rock in a London rave without hitting a Belgian. I honestly used to believe that on any given Saturday there were more Belgians in London nightclubs than in all of the Walloon region.
