Really stopped adding to the army about 10 years ago and just been sitting and sitting not painting them. Painted a 2k dwarf army back in the 90s and
Just burnt me out so I never painted my chaos dwarfs either as I got them or after I stopped collecting. At some point I found myself collecting a Tau army at around 5k painted that and got further burnt out. Was listening to the pod cast talking about the battle of the grey and got me thinking just 10 a day if that or do it unit at a time, don’t put them all out to make me feel like there’s a mountain to do. Just a couple today and move on. I want to display them as I haven’t played in closer to 20 years at this point. But maybe this will be motivating, or just another testament to a good idea I didn’t see through.
Hey, That’s a God-Awesome block of Wolf Riders. Gotta keep plugging away at it and don’t be too harsh on yourself. There are plenty of us in much the same boat ( If we is honest that is)
I’ve done just hobo armies with ghazak as DoW general to lead them. Let me tell you there’s nothing sweeter than a mongol fast cav archer spam in units of 5 all over the place.
I think all of us have our unpainted pewter and plastic mountains lying around at home. So don’t be ashamed, just start calmly and let yourself drift - that’s what I do, like a butterfly! I just paint and craft as I feel like it and have the motivation!
Finished my first 15 with command (still need eyes and tusks as my white was no good) other wise done. The red ended up drying in to a maroon that I’m pretty pleased with. All the skulls on helms are gold with accents on the command group with more gold aka horns or shoulder pads. Champion in gold armour cause of his wealth and status as a successful slaver. Musicians horn is Hashut (praise his name) copper, not gold as it’s close
You need more Hobgoblin wolf riders
Seriously, I don’t think I’ve ever seen so many wolf riders all together…even GW stores back in the 90’s didn’t have that many in shop.
I’m envious!
Hashut definitely favors the noble Hobgoblin
Not going to lie the goal is 100. Topped out at 69. Haven’t done much hunting for them years. If I can get the last 31 as archer variants I’ll be very happy
@Shef So happy to see you get out of a decate long painting burnout due to the podcast and BATG! I have, finally, tackeled a large portion of my skaven horde due to BATG '22. Hope to see you slowly and steadly work your way trough them! As others have said, most of us go through these phases!
It’s was easily 24 years that first dwarf army did a number on me. I slapped dashed a tau traditional paint scheme army which was barely painting around 2010
Decided to move away from rank and file for my next groups as there’s like 75 of them so I’d quit if I had to do them all straight. Figure some heavy support and bull centaur’s were on the menu. Had heavy work last 3-4 days so didn’t get to finish them till today.
Over all happy with the bull centaurs. Not feeling the blue on the artillery. Wont do that on the others. Maybe I’ll a different inlay color for each team we will see.
Next up sneaky Git’s. These I don’t want to mess up as the hobgoblins are my favorite part of the army.
3 hours later 10 sneaky gits I’m going to take a day off tomorrow. Was planing on doing them Saturday but their basically 40% done wearing black anyways.
I went with bronze daggers as I have started some warriors at some point where I have it that all the slave troops have bronze weapons (champions and up get good iron for loyalty) so as not to put to much or a threat to the Dawi Zarr
And you can also do what some of us have done. That is collect everything and then wait for the staff to announce a competition that something fits into.
I primmed these 5 warriors earlier in the week skipped them to do the death rocket and bull centaurs. Then skipped them again to do the Gits. Figured I’d do them today and add a lord to the force.
Going to do some more bull centaurs and maybe a mage next.
