My experience with foreglaive is they they just do not work. But IG are hard to be build in a cost efficient way.
Yes, Iāve had that experience, too. I often want to try out bigger blocks with Fireglaives but then find myself rather changing to Blunderbusses instead. My take now is that Fireglaives might be better in a gunline style list because of their range advantage. But I had not had a chance to play a list like this yet.
Mine would look like this maybe:
155 - Daemonsmith Sorcerer, Darkforged Weapon, Wizard Level 2, Dark Magic, Lore Familiar
96 - Hobgoblin Khan, Great Weapon, Shortbow, Shield, Light Armour, Giant Wolf, Ruby Ring of Ruin
455 - Sorcerer-Prophet, Darkforged Weapon, General, Lammasu, Mace Tail, Sorcerous Exhalation, Wizard Level 4, Elementalism, Biting Blade, Armour of Destiny, Arcane Familiar
(Just an idea - insert your favourite loadout here)
30 - 10 Hobgoblin Cutthroats, Shortbow
30 - 10 Hobgoblin Cutthroats, Shortbow
30 - 10 Hobgoblin Cutthroats, Shortbow
30 - 10 Hobgoblin Cutthroats, Shortbow
398 - 20 Infernal Guard, Fireglaive, Shield, Drilled, Deathmask, Standard Bearer, Razor Standard, Musician
120 - Deathshrieker Rocket Launcher
120 - Deathshrieker Rocket Launcher
45 - Hobgoblin Bolt Thrower
45 - Hobgoblin Bolt Thrower
185 - Dreadquake Mortar, Ogre Loader
185 - Dreadquake Mortar, Ogre Loader
76 - 5 Hobgoblin Wolf Riders, Shortbow, Reserve Move, Musician
2000 Points total
Another Take would be to split the Fireglaives up into 2 units and add some Sneaky Gits for even more movement blocking/chaff clearing.
115 - Daemonsmith Sorcerer, Wizard Level 2, Dark Magic
96 - Hobgoblin Khan, Great Weapon, Shortbow, Shield, Light Armour, Giant Wolf, Ruby Ring of Ruin
455 - Sorcerer-Prophet, Darkforged Weapon, General, Lammasu, Mace Tail, Sorcerous Exhalation, Wizard Level 4, Elementalism, Armour of Destiny, Lore Familiar
30 - 10 Hobgoblin Cutthroats, Shortbow
30 - 10 Hobgoblin Cutthroats, Shortbow
30 - 10 Hobgoblin Cutthroats, Shortbow
12 Infernal Guard, Fireglaive, Shield, Drilled, Deathmask, Standard Bearer, Musician
222 - 12 Infernal Guard, Fireglaive, Shield, Drilled, Deathmask, Standard Bearer, Musician
120 - Deathshrieker Rocket Launcher

What do you guys think? Could these shooty lists be viable in a competitive environment?
Blunderbus are probaby the better option but was trying to keep the list cheap while having them semi relevant. Good in melee too.
Blunderbus no shield or fireglavies with shield was my math and Fireglaives was more flexibility especially in melee.
But since Iām looking at teleport skirmishing with them I should revisit the math
Blunderbusses should be given a shield imo because they then at least have a 4+ save. And in their points range 1 more ppm doesnāt really matter anyways.
As for my playstyle, I have had good success with them teleporting around and annoying large targets mostly. Due to their Stubborn and Shieldwall they have lots of good options if they are forced into a close combat. Place some narrow blocker behind them ( 2x5 hobos, a lammasu, a rocket launcher, 1x5 Black Orcs, etc.), fall back, reform in a diagonal line, take the charge with the bocker and flank with the blunderbuss line next turn.
I agree. Shield with BB is great. And Razer Standard too.
I Did not play a rocket launcher gunline myself yet. Those weapons seems to be very expensive.
Also canāt use Shieldwall without shields.
Ofcourse, i was meaning for the same ppm Fyreglavie and shield or bb without.
Points willing i would take bb with shield
I have now tried them a few times and with their reroll they work ok-ish so far. Dreadquakes are so expensive but 2 Deathshrieker can also fit quite well in a normally more melee focused army to put some pressure on your opponent.
Yeah the Deathshriekers will probaby be abit swingy but for pie plates they are cheap
Will let you know how it goes
Had a practice game yesterday for the upcoming event. Lost badly to my mateās Vamps. He had 3 ethereal units and some screams, 2 lvl 4 casters, Graveguard and Blood Knights. I started good but was too careless with my Lammasu midgame. He got screamed down to 1 wound and had to hide after that. Some mistakes in deployment I guess as well. Deathshriekers didnāt do much that game. Only 1 hit on his Mortis, which he saved. One of the two blew up in round 2 and the other one didnāt do anything anymore for the rest of the game.
We finished with most of my army under bad pressure after turn 4.
Great info thank you sorry for your loss
Curse of HAshut to kill banshees! Also Ld 10 hobgoblins, Veteran black orcs and Ld 10 IG should help a bit.
DSR - yeah⦠well. Expensive gamble.
Thanks,
I havenāt got enough Hobgoblins ready yet, unluckily. So at the moment I proxy most of them with Night Goblins but also there the ressources are limited. Need to paint up more but time is limitedā¦
Havenāt tried the Hobgoblin blocks with LD10 yet. What are your guyās actual experiences with them? How big did you field them and have you already gathered tournament practice with them?
Ive used them as msu but always made their points in one way or another.
Yes, with 10 man darts in 2x5 formation I do quite well already. 5x2 are more in the way of my own troops. Will get some games going this Saturday and maybe try out 28 + Khan in 5x5
