[TOW] Let's get competitive

In my local scene if you can’t see where the cannonball is going to land you can chose it as a target, it’s not a stone thrower hahah so hiding behind forests works for LoS reasons

I haven’t run the khan by himself before so you’d have more idea than me but if you’re against 6 cannons I’d take the ward save personally

This is one with 2 Castellans:

Copy of Uzkul-Dhrath-Zharr, 1TLB [2000 pts]
Warhammer: The Old World, Chaos Dwarfs, Renegade, Grand Melee + Combined Arms

Infernal Castellan, Great weapon, Full plate armour, Shield, General, Bale Taurus, 3x Mantle of Stone, Charmed Shield - 389

The idea is to get T9 to be wounded on 3+ and charmed shield for one-off 5+ save.

I always regret taking Khan. Last game he charged an elven chariot to the flank with 1 wound and did not kill it lol But it is a nice piece to shoot cannons, outriders etc.

There are going to be a lot of armies that won’t be able to handle this ahah !

I feel that no soft units (no sneaky gits/Khan) and 2 bulls is a better choice BUT I do like Tau’uruk, Sneaky Gits and Khan as they provide more fun into the list…

I get you, if you enjoy them run them for sure

Fun has to be the priority!

This is hard choice. I do have 2 castellans painted too.

And Khan and Taur’ruk both provide nice speed and alkowa to atttacks different targets.

2x Castellans list looks like this:

Renegade 2xCastellan [2000 pts]

Warhammer: The Old World, Chaos Dwarfs, Renegade, Grand Melee + Combined Arms

Infernal Castellan, Great weapon, Full plate armour, General, Bale Taurus, 3x Mantle of Stone, Charmed Shield - 387

17 Hobgoblin Cutthroats, Shortbows, Boss (champion), Musician - 63

This is an interesting choice! I always wanted to try Daemonsmith on Lamassu with breath attack to destroy infantry but I never seen a seneschals without BSB.

Aren’t you a bit at risk on the magic and dispel department ? One deamonsmith seems a bit light ?

I’ve tried a sorcerer on a Lammasu on several occasions. He always makes a tempting target but the miasma and ability to nullify magic weapons is helpful. I’ve learned never to have him engage in hand to hand combat. Instead support another unit, say the blunderbusses and breath weapon. He tends to be squishy but as long as he’s played as a skirmisher and missile troop/caster, does a decent job.

I like a lvl 2 on the lammasu in this role. Better than a flame cannon! It can be hard to get spells off though. Zipping behind units causes some armies lots of problems. Others can shoot him down

I am tempted to run one as a bsb as well but I’d rather the 90 points (with lamasus beard) to be spent somewhere else, the demonsmith on lamasu might be added to my list depending on his today goes hahah

100% I am, the demonsmith Is only there to be an engineer for the DSR’s - it hasn’t been an issue in the past but after looking at all the armies I’ll be playing against today I think I might be in trouble

You see enough magic after changes to spells and casters? I do not really see.

Games yesterday were against dark elves and Tomb Kings, dark elves games I won but that was to be expected but got my butt handed to me by the Tomb Kings, I forgot to challenge the Dragon with my hobgobs (huge mistake but it was boiling in at the event and I just wasn’t thinking straight) and the Tau’urk failed the fear test to get a flank charge to help with combat res and then he slowly picked everything apart - I really think I could have won that game if I did a few things differently so it was a good learning experience of what not to forget hahah he had a lot of magic and it was a little annoying but I don’t think it won him the game by any means

I do, maybe something with my local scene, especially in games between 2000 to 2500.

I guess it’s more psychological, I see a guy decking several spellcaster, I feel compeled to deck some of my own and anti magic.

I’ll have a battle march big event coming up in a month, but I’ll be playing TK and Empire. I do not expect to encounter as much magic in this context.

This is an Empire list I will be playing in my next event:

2x captain on a horse with Squintsoffen’s Marvellous Magnifier

2x Engineer

10 Nuln State Troops

12 Outriders

12 Outriders

8 Outriders

6 cannons

1 Steam Tank

And we play Drawn Battlelines so I will not be able to get cannon from across the table.

Ambushing 3x10 hobbos to get the cannons?

It would not work for a simple reason. 6 cannons can block whole table edge from ambush. I will be playing the 2x castellan list from above. So it will be quick lol
