This seems a little beyond ridiculous.
When is the event ?
Keep us posted ![]()
Sure. We have a tournament in a club but it is not one day. 4 rounds, 3 weeks to play each round. First game was a challange. We know lists and scenario and terrain set up. ToW rules treats terrain as something that looks good but should not affect games AT ALL
So basically no places to hide.
I got a 1250p local tournament in two weeks, and never really played that format before. I built a list that is a reasonable mean between my 2k and 500p lists:
===
Wjeżdżamy na takiej kurwie że ich zmiatamy z powierzchni ziemi [1250 pts]
Warhammer: The Old World, Chaos Dwarfs, Renegade, Open War
===
++ Characters [335 pts] ++

Hobgoblin Khan [82 pts]

++ Core Units [517 pts] ++

7 Hobgoblin Wolf Riders [98 pts]

Castellan joins the Ironsworn, Khan fills the 24 Hobos to a nice and round 5x5 square, and a Sorcerer stays close to Deathshriekers to Engineer them as needed.
We played some games last week to test our lists (my friend plays O&C Tribes), but I’m not really able to tell if this list clicks or not because all my DRL rolls were hits, what decimated poor goblins in 3-4 rounds. Sneaks never made it from the ambush, none of the Fireglaive shots ever wounded, RRoR is a must on a Khan.
Did anyone played 1250 before? Any advice? Hail hashut!
My experience with 1250 games is that best lists are those that give no time to Your opponent. 2 Castellans on Taurusai, some infantry (with fly if possible) and some hobgoblins to score objectives.
What composition restrictions You have in list building?
Grand Melee + Combined Arms
Renegades OK
Single model or unit max 25% (312)
No Allies
Max 1 lvl 3 Wizard
0-2 same character
0-2 same core unit
0-2 same special unit
0-1 same rare unit
0-1 bound spell
Will play with a friend today, I plan to try something more powerful than last time

Iron Daemon - we had a 250 point limit on a unit but this is nice!
Renegade [1240 pts]
Warhammer: The Old World, Chaos Dwarfs, Renegade, Grand Melee + Combined Arms
Infernal Castellan, Great weapon, Full plate armour, Shield, General, Bale Taurus - 294
Daemonsmith Sorcerer, Darkforged weapon, Heavy armour, Wizard [Level 1 Wizard], On foot, Lore Familiar, Daemonology - 125
17 Infernal Guard, Fireglaives, Heavy armour, Deathmask (champion), Standard bearer - 267
20 Hobgoblin Cutthroats, Shields - 60
Iron Daemon, Steam Cannonade - 275
Bull Centaur Taur’ruk, Great weapon, Heavy armour, Charmed Shield, Mantle of Stone, Healing Potion - 219
Created with “Old World Builder”
And how do you play that list? I presume Lore Familiar on the Sorcerer is for Steed of Shadows what increases mobility of IGs, but I don’t have a general idea on how to play it - never played Taurruk alone without his Centaurs, I also don’t think I ever played a game bigger than 500 point without a Deathshrieker. The idea of squeezing a Taurus or two is great tho, will experiment with this later this week!
I believe this game, even after all those scenarios, is all about kill. AD have some cheap-ish punch heroes and You just do that - alpha strike. You move fast, punch and grind. Tau’uruk with S5 and D3+1 and First Charge can break blocks of infantry. And You choose where to punch. This helps against cannon lists or shooty elves lists and Taurus is like strong dragon for that points.
1 DSR does not feel right and being slow always sucks.
We will be playing a 750 point tournament soon. I wonder what is better:
1 Tau’urk for 184 points (GW, Mantle, charmed shield) OR
3 Bull Centaurs for 186 (GW)
I scored second in 750p tournament last month with
++ Characters [216 pts] ++
Hobgoblin Khan [82 pts]
(Hand weapon, Throwing weapons, Shortbow (replaces Throwing weapons), On foot, Ruby Ring of Ruin)
Infernal Castellan [134 pts]
(Great weapon, Full plate armour, Shield, General, On foot)
++ Core Units [394 pts] ++
5 Infernal Guard [80 pts]
(Hailshot blunderbuss, Heavy armour, Detachment)
24 Hobgoblin Cutthroats [72 pts]
(Hand weapons, Shortbows)
11 Infernal Ironsworn [242 pts]
(Great weapons, Full plate armour, Shield)
++ Special Units [70 pts] ++
10 Sneaky Gits [70 pts]
(Two hand weapons, Throwing weapons, Light armour)
++ Rare Units [70 pts] ++
5 Hobgoblin Wolf Riders [70 pts]
(Hand weapons, Light armour, Shields, Shortbow, Reserve Move)
BTW, Is the tournament you’re talking about the “Parówka” in Krotoszyn?
Not Parówka, we have a 16ish player group that organize tournaments for our group.
Engaged in a 2500pt battle this week against the VC. Here are some of the results:
- Earthshaker did a great job tying up the larger hordes of undead, causing them to block their own units preventing their maneuver. Their lack of marching made it a great choice.
- Ensorcelled weapons were key. The iron sworn are a bit more expensive but were worth it.
- A lone Taur’ak: a great unit to allow flank charges, especially beefing him with a hard hitting magic weapon.
- Bolt throwers. I brought two. Hit once over five turns. Very inconsistent as usual.
- War boss on a Wyvern never disappoints.
- Lvl 4 sorcerer a must. I couldn’t get any real spells off but dispelling the VC buffs were key.
- Iron Daemon not as an effective given spectral nature of units.
- Black orcs munched through units.
- Hobgoblin wolf riders did very little in the terms of combat except distract the blood knights for a turn.
Thanks for insights from your game. Did your iron daemon not have the hellbound upgrade? Because it’s my usual go to for shooting ethereal things at long range.
The way the six pieces of terrain were set and the fact the VC regiments got backed up, the iron daemon really only had two targets. I tried to focus fire one of them but OW shooting and spell casting is very inconsistent. The backing up resulted in two counts within range to raise whatever I killed.
Yeah, I’ve found wolf riders a waste against VC. I normally just run a lone naked Khan to mess up the blood knights and put the few other points somewhere else.
Gamę against Empire I wrote before:
Key moments:
Went first, carter cast fly, then miscast a magic missle, rolled another snake eyes killing 3 IG. Next turn he failed to cast any spells. Then cast a missle but rolled a 3 for hits and did 0 wounds.
Blunderbusses flew 12” turn 1, shot at outriders. Killed 3. List 14 models in return. ToW is like rock-paper_scisors. You Play list vs list not player vs player… I also failed all ward saves and even Cannon miscast 3 times I for shot off the board.
Oh. And ID rolled ‘1’ twice on Movement roll.
That’s how the cookie crumble sometimes.
I played an empire game recently. Despite engineer baby sitting 2 warmachines, both exploded on turn one.
You win some, you lose some …
hat is why You take 7 cannons. Simple math. And 3 enginners.
In general tournament round 1 ended up with all massacres (20:0 or 18-2) except for one 13:7 game so there is no balance AT all. I just watched an elven list I might play next and that is is usless againt my T7-T9. This is how it works with all lists. I predict wither high wins or losses. No middle ground ![]()
I’ve seen tournaments start restricting cannons to two units.
