Who wants a premium hardback book with all old world pdfs?

I would, in my personal opinion, keep it simple and easy to fulfill… adding more stuff isnt always the same and adding more value

I gladly accept help with design and making an index for each part. Maybe even covers for each team if it doesn’t already exist. Adding extra. Content won’t happen though

need suggestions now:
name for the book (armies of the lost and damned as an example)

a cool quote / poem / text for the back cover.
(never had so many had so few to thank for so much, sarcastic example)

Let your imagination loose!

I find “The Lost and the Damned” already pretty good! It’s pretty much to the point, I’d say  (tbh I find it already better than the official “Armies of Fantasy”) I’d just skip the “armies of”. If you want it to be funny call it “The Suburbs” or “The Neighborhood” or “Around the Old World” or something. But I wouldn’t advise that.

I need to think about a quote or something.

Title: Chaos Dwarfs and other doubtlessly inferior armies

I would call it “Forgotten Legions”.

I would put this quote on the back:

"By all means, try and stop 'em. I won’t stand in your way. Beat them back, chop them down, hold the line, carry the day. Cover yourself in glory, or in guts, it makes no difference to me. Or to the dead, for that matter. You’re just postponing the inevitable, lad. Mark my words, they’ll get us all in the end."

The quote is originally about Vamp Counts but I sort of like it as having multiple layers of meaning. He could he saying that about any of these “dead” armies, or us as players, or GW.

Could you give a list of all the content that would be in the book?

Is this a fan army list plus all of the Old World rules sufficient to play the game?

If so then yes I’d like to buy.

That would be completely illegal and even just offering that publicly would put all of CDO at risk of being shut down by GW lawyers

Cf. What they did to Warhammer Armies Project last year

So, yesterday I had a little panic attack about the possible contents for the legacy PDFs. Even that “all 7 pdfs will be closer to 225 pages” might be wildly off. Now i tend to agree with you, cornixt.

I naively thought “OK, each one of the core factions gets about 30 pages in one of the books, so it will be for the legacy armies”. Taken together, this hypothetical third book would have been the largest of the three and they are giving it away for free? Seems unlikely. If we look back at what is in the books for the core factions we see:

Each army gets an introduction, a gallery of miniatures, a grand army composition list, a complete set of unit profiles (so you’ll have no need for a separate army book to play), special rules, magic items, and unique spells.

If we’re realistic, the first two points are probably not going to be in the pdfs. Sure, they could c&p quite a lot from their own extensive archive, but why? The grand army list composition, sure, that’s in there. That’s 1 page. Just the unit profiles, obviosly, another 10. But I don’t think we’ll get these old army-book style “here is a page with background on Bull Centaurs and then their profile and special rules” things. They will need custom special rules, another 1-2 pages. Unique lore and magic items, that’s where it starts to get tricky, but I would say it’s also needed, there is too much unique flair and necessary game mechanics (looking at you, Vampire counts), that’s another 3-5 pages. But all in all we could very well end up with only 15-20 pages per legacy faction and not much “meat” on the bones. So the book might be even cheaper in the end, that’s a plus.

Sound good to me

If so many people are interested i propose we:

  • see exactly what will be in the book

  • see what artwork and what not is viable

  • get a tally for the nr of books needed

  • pay @LaketideMiniatures upfront for the book to be printed

  • pay lakey afterwards for the shipping and eventual extra costs for people not buying their boo whenever you can.

  • have a deadline before when you have to have paid, if not paid on time you dont get a book.

This is exactly what I’d want! Happy to lend photoshopping to the project if anyone wants the cover done
