Subject Matter: K’daai
There are myriad ways to interpret the daemonic conjurations of the Chaos Dwarfs. For this painting contest we want you to enter with anything involving Chaos Dwarf K’daai, fire elementals, obsidian golems, rocky geodudes, summoned ash tornados, or your own interpretation of Chaos Dwarf daemon constructs.
There is great host of inspiration in past Golden Hat contests (especially 16), sure to spark an idea in your dusty tinder box of bits. Not to mention, the K’daai image gallery is tailor made to ignite your painting for this competition.
Let the dark fire avail you in our sculpting tutorials section if you choose to forge your own creation. Many members have posted some fire sculpting tutorials including daemon fire. The aesthetic of K’daai is historically quite wildly varied on this forum and really quite a blank canvas that can set the tone for your army’s unique style. Certainly don’t feel bound and chained to the fire elemental trope if you’d like to explore the broader host of Chaos Dwarf / Hashut Daemonology. Hopefully this stokes the fire and gets some ideas smouldering. What even is a K’daai anyway?

Are you a stalwart Hobgoblin enthusiast? No doubt many hobgoblin servants have been set on fire like a peasant due to the indiscriminate burnination of their thatched roof hovels by a blazenado of K’daai summoned through the efforts of a sorcerous overlord. If an idea burns so bright that your wildfire runs rampant and turns into a monstrous K’daai destroyer, that is also well within the bounds of this competition. Whatever identity you choose for your fireborn, get them painted for supremacy on the tabletop, that’s the ultimatum I present to you.
Hope you’re all fired up! That’s enough fire puns for now… Let’s get to painting! Keep it as simple or as complicated as you like. Let your imagination burn wild and ruin the air quality of all unfortunate denizens that happen to be downwind of your general area!

Basing is unrestricted and up to your discretion. You may include plinths and display bases if you want. You may include fancy backgrounds. We want to encourage the creation of beautiful models and scenes, not hamper it.

Submission
All entries must be sent to the @GoldenHat account no later than the due date. (Entrants have approximately 12 weeks to complete entries). If for some reason you are having trouble with your submission, contact @Reaver since the @GoldenHat account has limited monitoring. In order to avoid problems, entrants should not wait until the last minute to submit their entries.
How to Enter
Submissions should include up to 4 pictures of your miniature creation. Upload and send your entry images with this forum’s direct upload function (preferred) in a PM to @GoldenHat (a special user that all Staff have access to). Any images uploaded to the Internet, e.g. with Imgur will need to be inserted in image form into the PM anyway (see below).
If you win:
- Walk across the backs of the cowed masses you have scorned and pushed aside, in order to take your place at the top in the vaunted Golden Hat Gallery .
- Receive the Golden Hat medal for your online persona.
- Win paints and miniatures! See above for details.
