Hi all, debating whether it’s possible to get a chaos dwarf army finished for an event in mid-March and thought I’d join up. Hoping to look at all the painted minis, the discussions and be inspired.
Welcome welcome! Certainly possible, especially if you’re into printing. What do you have your eye on?
Welcome to our great community!
I’m sure you can do it (I mean, I’m slow as fudge cake and wouldn’t be anywhere near getting it done. But I’ve seen members of this community commit amazing stunts of speed before)!
There’s loads of inspiration for both conversions, optional minis and great paint jobs all over the place.
Welcome pal! this forum is the cradle of inspiration!
are you looking for real models and/or stl files?
I’m just looking for inspiration from projects others have done. Maybe some advice on how to play Chaos Dwarfs in sixth edition
Thank you for the welcome, I think I’ve got all the models I need, I just need the inspiration to paint them!
Going to a tournament is certainly a great motivator to paint an army. I did the same last year. Painted up 1500 pts plus extras in four months. Certainly not the highest painting standard in the world but had a cohesive look and I was quite pleased with having a fully painted army on the table. Take a look at my army blog here: I like Big Hats and I cannot lie [2022-05-01]
As for playing in 6th edition, it’s not a system I’ve played in decades. You are going to use the Ravening Hordes list I presume?
Yes, it would be ravening hordes, though I’m not certain if I’ll take Chaos Dwarfs yet.
A few starting points for you!
I refer to this for almost all questions regarding Ravening Hordes so I figured I should just make it available here! Enjoy!

Direwolf FAQ v6.04
Q. What is the correct description for Blunderbusses?
A. P.32: Blunderbuss rules. The last two sentences should be changed from “Hits are resolved at S3 if firing in 1 rank, S4 if firing in 2 ranks and S5 if in 3 or more ranks. Ranks must be complete to count.” to “Hits are resolved as S3 plus 1 per extra ra…
One of the core issues with Chaos Dwarfs RH in the modern age is the lack of options compared to later lists. How can I use my classics with their crossbows? What if I want an Iron Daemon? Why would a dwarf not use some form of polearm when they are at such a reach disadvantage?
It turns out our friends-for-gold have a surprising amount of utility that can be used to field equipment not envisaged when RH was originally published. Here’s some examples ripe for converting, but please add more if …
I’ve just recently joined the ranks of the Dawi-Zharr and fulfilled a very old ambition to create an army in the style of the 90s Chaos Dwarfs (using 6th edition rules as a base with the hope of having a collection flexible enough to jump to 5th, 8th and possibly beyond should we show up in The Old World).
As I’m using 6th edition (Ravening Hordes) as a baseline I wanted to ask for some input on my list
I’m not striving for a highly competitive list and it’s mostly i…
The task: dissect, discuss and agree upon an all-in-one 2000pt list from Ravening Hordes 6th edition.
What roster stands the best chance against a random opponent?
@Jasko provided some good prompts in Discord, so I’ve rustled up a starter list to get us thinking.
If this were patted into shape, it would be fun for players across CDO to stress test the same army with their models.
Chaos Dwarfs by committee, let’s go!
Edit: the values next to the names are their base points value so I don’t ge…
Feel free to ask any questions you might have! It’s not the most complicated list but it’s got great potential.
