Damn, that looks good… I’ll have to build a shed on my lawn to be able to house a 3d-printer of my own though… Wonder what I’ll tell my wife

Your wife will be against sheds in your backyard.
Ask @Oxymandias they can confirm.

Btw the printer itself is messy and the resin smell really gives you headache and nausea, even a couple of days after printing.
Needs some care and maintenance, but it isn’t (so far) that complex.

But I know for other ppl experiences that it isn’t like this. It’s worse xD

Aren’t you happy I told you not to get one and put it in a small apartment?

So I made a test paint for the test print, next time I will have to place better support on the back.
For being a quick paint job of 2 hours I’m quite happy for this 5cm bust

If any of you would like to test this model, just give me a private msg too

First thing first, how the hell is possible that this thread is 185 answers long, when i dont even do so much?
I should go back and check what’s going on up in here

Second, welcome to the show where an italian runts 24/7 and curses against his cellphone and his own inability of taking pictures!

So, as the 37 Golden Hat was close to the end, many of you on discord knew about my struggle on my entry, never said what entry it was, but the frustration of not being able to take proper pics was on my nerves.

So here’s the story, warning: pic heavy

early august, with the owner of the local store, i went and bought some planks for nail the entire playing table on

we had some excess of wood, so i took a piece 10x15cm for random future diorama base.
fast forward early september due to summer vacation, this is how the table now looks

BUT THIS ISNT THE POINT OF THE THREAD! EDDY, STAY FOCUSED!

With that little piece of wood i came home and started toying around.
some of you might remember this stormcast from couple of months ago, he was my 1st attempt at grimdark painting so it was around for all this time

here you can see how i painted a chocolate cake!
base made with plaster + sand + water + bits of cork, and a piece of bark on the back for some extra elevation

after painting it i got few branches from the summer house of my gf grandparents, some sea shells/snail shells too and kept on toying around.
at this point i actually left for the holydays and came back 10 days after, august was almost over

you know the deal on my paintjob. i’m slow. that’s it. i take way too much time and sometime helps, but most of the times it annoys me

here the composition was almost done, the backdrop was off, and the tree was naked, so i first tried some cotton + pva glue + water + green color on a tree, the test was ugly but successful

after this, it was 5ish september, i was already done, and i had 3 weeks to take the pictures.
EASY PEASY, RIGHT?
NO
This is what i was aiming at in the start, but a photographer friend dissuaded me to upload those pics.
my idea here was to have a battlefield under the moon light

it took me 5 days before i was able to take those pics, but they were out of focus, the colors not enough contrasted and again, the focus was all off

2 MORE WEEKS OF PICS, AND ON THE 23RD, THE DAY BEFORE THE LAST ONE, I MANAGED TO MAKE THE SHOTS YOU ALREADY KNOW.

and the fucking pics are still not in focus! i understood why, that friend explained it to me why i couldnt get it on such scale, but i couldnt do anything else at this point, so i went for it and apparently won the contest lol

Guys, that’s it, thanks again so much for all the votes, and even for those who didnt. 2 months of frustration brought to life this neat little piece.
i havent painted so many AoS models before this occasion, the Golden Hat always move us to do more (looking at you @Oxymandias ) and better

It was a blas, and this was truly the most difficult contest i ever partecipate, it was so hard for me to choose only 3 votes!

Thanks guys again!
CIAO!

A worthy entry (despite the 40k Sigmarine)
The colors are beautiful, perfectly accented and very nice balanced contrasts.
I really liked the seashells too, great little touch that I spotted immediately. Very clever :+1:
I feel your pain about taking pics, my pics were also out of focus and poor lighting. But I gave up after 20 minutes or so, I admire your determination!
Great entry

Oh man, those Sigmarines are so damn ugly xD
But a grindark warm but light scheme like the one I used, I think makes them bit better.
I have like 5 of that model because it’s the free sample you get from the stores, so all the work was a big test piece!
I had so many of those, so I asked once on discord “how many hobgoblins would you need to kill a sigmarine?”
@Oxymandias said that having 2 wounds you would need 2 lucky one, while @chitzkoi said that depended from the writer and the plot armor
So I decided that 5 were enough to take down one model xD

For the rest, yes, I’m finding myself always more and more drawn by the realism, those little details are what make the scene real to me, those shells tell a story, it’s a humid environment, close to the water, and you can see that from then vegetation on the tree as well.

Or at least, this is what I tell myself, I might be completely wrong XD

If you have the stats of the sigmarine and the hobgrot, you can calculate it using this app

So my spiraling of models and ideas is constant and doesn’t help me to fucking conclude anything!

I got the 2 batches of warploque 3rd ed CDs, and yesterday I printed some for my second CD blood bowl team

Few things about those models:
Size
Compared to a 3rd ed classic cd they are obviously bigger, that scale was 25, while those apparently sits in between to classic 28 and modern 32.
You can see them in the pic next to 2 original 80s and 90s cd, and a Fabelzel one

The scale is pretty similar to Fabelzel one actually, so of you wanna use them in a 80s environment you should scale them down a bit, I’d say around 15%

Sculpts
The sculpts themself are good, nothing outstanding but they do their work pretty damn well, there is a nice variety of bodies, 12 in total (8 standard 1 champion and 3 special elite thought for boar centaurs ideally)
The only thing I really dislike are those ball beards. They look like sheep wool to me, it just doesn’t adds up, so I’ll personally sculpt over them some classical beard.
That’s it, that’s my only real downside about those models

As extra, I never printed a multi kit, quite annoying having to work extra for all of those parts. Me and Fabelzel were chatting about those and I notice now what he meant, with monopose models you don’t have to do extra work, you can achieve a lot, great details and all, and still don’t have to clean all those parts and then glue it together and everything.
This is just a minor consideration from me who never had this kind of tool before

So in the end in happy with those models, I’ll print later next week the boar centaurs too, then I’ll need to find an alternative version for hobgoblins, 80s style to complete this blood bowl team

Great stuff Ed . These are perfect for blood bowl. Also yes I know what you mean about multipart. Great for plastic kits but a bit of a pain for resin. I’m considering using meshmixer to stick a few variations of the gunners together digitally before I print him.

The gunners have already 3 bodies with the weapon in arms, but yeah, for the rest we should be able to put things together prior.
Also send me the link of the mesher because I wanna try as well xD

Anyway, the 6 evil cunts are placed.
You know what? I hate to sculpt XD fuck it I will keep the ball beard

SO, THR MAN OF THE 473959 PROJECTS, FINISHER OF NONE IS BACK ALREADY

Letsbget the skaven warlocks, twitch few things and put a hobgrot head on.
Oh shit it’s small. Maybe I will try to sculpt something 3d, idk!
This will be…idk, a model on a 40x40 square base to use as warmachine proxy? No idea

Oh YES, came out super nice!

In T9A you could use him on a 40mm square as a rocket launcher weapon team ^^

No idea what it could count as… but it is very cool!

i reply to myself with this WIP im doing on sculptris

i’ll make the head myself and that’s it auahuahuahu
Gotta see if the eyes aren’t too big tho. Might need some more fixing

also thanks @Jasko and @Uther.the.unhinged !
@denelian5 yes! that was my sort of idea! instead of use a hobbo gitterlance or a death rocket, i can use this as proxy on a 40x40 base and maybe add 2 crewmen behind him on a separate base as well. this can be something cool in the end!

Here is a small preview of what my Blood Bowl team should look like in the end.
Following the 2nd edition artwork, pink and dark gray/green.
Gotta see if I can make the pink a bit more on the red side, will try to fix this model with some red washes and a lot of hope.
5 more to go, then I will need to figure out how to make a 80s / 2nd edition hobgoblins, there are few chaos goblin miniatures around, but the poses don’t fit blood bowl at all, and I can’t sculpt/convert

PS I failed hard on the hoboblin skaven thing. Gotta fix it somehow. Probably just remove the neck entirely

That dwarf looks beautiful! Great job. I must say I actually like the pink as it is.

And yes, just throw out the neck of that hobgoblin. You can get the classic hunch-backed look by just letting the head sprout directly from the torso (goes for dwarves too).

I agree with antenor go hunchback on the hobbo. The head looks slightly big ?

The chaos dwarf looks great :+1:

Just noticed the dwarfs eyes…very nice indeed
