Nice! By all means share what kind of learnings you’ve had. A lvl 2 will be prone to simply fail to cast, I’m afraid. The two spells you mention are both signature spells, so you wouldn’t be able to take both.
A Hobgoblin Khan on wolf with a Ruby Ring would probably fulfil the role, but for much cheaper.

Had a second outing vs. my brother’s wood elves. This time he brought a more specialized list, with a central line of 20 wild rangers supported by a lvl 4 and a BSB, an eagle, and 10 glade riders. Oh and a mandatory unit of 5 archers that did absolutely zilch for the entire game.
I brought a lvl 4 sorc, a Seneschal BSB, and a blorc bigboss ons foots. As for infantry I brought 15 IG with axe and board, 9 blorcs, 2*10 hobo archers. I tried bringing a deathshrieker and a dreadquake, but this will …

The armies were capped at 1200pts, with a little bit of a limit on bringing overly expensive characters. No duplicate armies represented, so that was cool, we had wood elves (my brother, incidentally) and ogres:

I had a one-off battle with a friend the other day, which had some interesting moments, so I thought I’d write up a battle report. We had a third guy who was kind enough to take pictures, which is why I for once have a bunch of them.
We rolled the Open Battle Scenario (is that what it’s called? The one where you just draw lines 24" apart). I got to go first cause of the +1 to the roll (we both rolled a 6).
