Alright @BATG_Warriors, my first three battle-ready painted Big Hat Chaos Dwarfs:

This is the command unit for my Chaos Dwarf Warriors. I basically followed the paint scheme I used for Barbakul, so he fits the army he was sent from
I went into huge and unsuspected trouble with the bases though. I just slapped a layer of Mordant Earth on it (used it for the first time), like I did often with Agrax Earthshade. It dried well enough into cracks, but when I tried to dry brush it, they completely fell off. So I think I used Agrax Earthshade over another layer of paint which I didn’t do here, so I will give all the bases of the complete unit another go.
Goal is to paint the whole army to this standard by April. Maybe I can spend a little more time and work on the characters, we’ll see. I’ll definitely come back at some point and give the whole army another round of painting, but the prime directive remains to get rid of that grey.

They are lovely! I think the way the skin tone you’ve chosen naturally spotlights their faces in between all the darker colours, and I’m very impressed at how well you’ve differentiated the gold and brass - and how good they look together as a result!

Mhmm shame you guys like that brass so much, since I might switch that up at this point it’s paint from a 25y old pot of Dwarf Bronze with some Scorched Brown mixed in to darken it down. Not sure I’ll hit that same tone again for the rest of the army Or I run out of OOP paint. original plan was to change the scheme to use some contemporary paints. I’ll reconsider now

You could probably get the same effect with Balthasar Gold and Agrax Earthshade (since that’s what I presumed you used!).

Second (and last one I will get) issue of Warhammer 40k: Imperium dropped

Gotta say, those new Necrons are pretty sweet!

Here is the complete group shot of models I got from the first two issues of the Conquest and Imperium magazines. Not too bad for 16€, including a total of three colours, two brushes and 12 dice (plus some printed playmats I don’t think I’ll ever use). System gamed! I am still sad that Mortal Realms will most likely never come out in Germany, wouldn’t have minded getting a few Stormcast and Nighthaunt and more colours for another 8€…

Very happy to report that I’ve painted the remaining Chaos Dwarf Warriors. This is the first unit of Chaos Dwarfs I’ve ever painted! It still sits only at the battle-ready stage, but I think the overall look of the unit is still OK.

Painted an Earthshaker and two Death Rocket Launchers to battle-ready standard. Regretted counting war machines as one model But it’s only right. I cannot field a single Crew Dwarf, so it’s not a separate model in my mind.
